Lose My Mind
Pacific Air Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been thinking about the ocean
And how cold it's been
I could steal my father's sweater
But I'm way too thin to be the only one in
I know I want to take a bath
Without the water turning black
I know I want to be a man
Oh before, oh before, before I lose my mind

Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind

I've been thinking about my future
And how cold it's been
When I look into a mirror
I can only see my reflection
I know I want to take a bath
Without my footsteps turning black
I know I want to take a chance
Oh before, oh before, before I lose my mind

Until I reach my goal
I quit my job, I've got nowhere else to go

Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind

Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind

Before I lose my mind
Before I lose my mind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Pacific Air's song "Lose My Mind" reflect a feeling of being lost and uncertain about the future. The singer reflects on how cold he feels, both physically and emotionally. Thinking about the ocean, he realizes that he is too thin to go swimming in its cold waters, and the idea of stealing his father's sweater to keep warm does not appeal to him either. The idea of taking a bath without the water turning black indicates a sense of wanting to cleanse oneself of something dirty or unwanted. Similarly, the reflection in the mirror only reveals the singer's own image, suggesting a feeling of self-absorption and introspection.

The song's chorus repeats the line "Before I lose my mind" several times, further emphasizing the singer's sense of urgency and concern about his mental state. He recognizes that he wants to be a man and take a chance, but he feels that time is running out. The line "Until I reach my goal, I quit my job, I've got nowhere else to go" suggests a determination to follow his dreams, even if it means taking a risk.

Overall, "Lose My Mind" expresses a deep sense of uncertainty and vulnerability, but also a determination to push forward in pursuit of something better. The somber tone of the music and lyrics adds to the introspective nature of the song.
