Close to You
Pacific Dub Lyrics

Why do birds, suddenly appear?
Every time you are near
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Why do stars, fall down from the sky?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born, the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue
And that is why all the kids in town
Follow you all around
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born, the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue
And that is why all the kids in town
Follow you all around
And just like me, they long to be
Close to you
And just like me, they long to be
Close to you
Close to you
Close to you
The lyrics of Pacific Dub's "Close to You" express the singer's fascination with someone who has an almost magical hold on the world around them. The opening lines ask a poignant question: "Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near?" The implication is that the person being singled out in the song has a charisma and aura that is irresistibly attractive -- not just to the singer, but even to the natural world itself. The lyrics go on to ask a similar question about falling stars: "Why do stars fall down from the sky every time you walk by?" Once again, the idea is that this person has some kind of influence on their surroundings that goes beyond the ordinary.
The song takes on a romantic tone as the lyrics talk about the angelic qualities of the object of the singer's affection. He sings that when the person was born, angels "sprinkled moon dust in your hair, of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue." They go on to say that "all the kids in town follow you all around" because they are similarly drawn in by the person's otherworldly qualities. The final repetition of the chorus brings the song full circle, reiterating the deep desire to be close to this captivating individual.
Overall, the lyrics of "Close to You" convey a sense of wonder and enchantment in the face of someone who seems to have a special, almost magical hold on the world around them. The song celebrates the idea of being drawn to someone who is uniquely captivating, and who has an almost mystical aura that is impossible to resist.
