Indecisión
Page Steven Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ooh whoa

Ooh whoa

I've always been a creature of habit
Put another way, I'm addicted to you
I'm predisposed to habit
Happiest when I don't know what to do

I wanna settle down like my father
I wanna run away like my mother ought to

Be prepared for indecision
It might make me disappear
But then again, my addiction
To indecision keeps me here

Ooh whoa

Ooh whoa

I was born between the tracks
I left home and turned around and came back
One day you and I will be intertwined
If I could only make up my mind

Be prepared for indecision
It might make me disappear
But then again, my addiction
To indecision keeps me here

Ooh whoa

Leave decisions up to fate
Nothing comes to those who wait

Come see the view from the top of the fence
We'll watch the world unfold its events
Some days when I am nearly awake
I can almost hear the decisions I make

Be prepared for indecision
It might make me disappear
But then again, my addiction
To indecision keeps me here

Be prepared for indecision
It might make me disappear
But then again, my addiction
To indecision keeps me here

Ooh whoa

Ooh whoa

Overall Meaning

The song "Indecision" by Page Stevens deals with the theme of being indecisive in life. The opening lines of the song "I've always been a creature of habit" suggest that the singer is someone who is comfortable with routine and familiar surroundings. At the same time, the lyrics indicate that this habit-forming tendency is also a weakness, as the singer is "addicted" to someone or something in their life. This addiction is keeping the singer from making clear decisions and moving forward in their life.

The chorus "Be prepared for indecision, it might make me disappear" suggests that the singer is aware of their tendency towards indecision and is warning others that they may not always be reliable due to this trait. However, the addiction to indecision is also seen as a sort of comfort zone; the line "my addiction to indecision keeps me here" suggests that the singer is hesitant to step outside of this comfort zone and make a decision.

The final verse of the song speaks to the idea of leaving decisions up to fate, but also encourages a sort of mindfulness towards the decisions that one makes in life. The line "Some days when I am nearly awake, I can almost hear the decisions I make" suggests that the singer is aware of the impact of their indecision and is urging themselves to be more present in their decision-making process.

Overall, "Indecision" is a reflective and introspective song that deals with common human struggles around making choices and taking risks.

@StarWarsObsessed

Great song. Entertaining video.

I just started listening to BNL about a year and a half their a lot better than what I give them credit for. I remember hearing "one week" back in the 90s and I hated it. I happen to come across the album (Stunt). It was a great album and so is this Steven page CD.

Lovely Track

@adamv4344

So nice

@DrThunder88

If it weren't for the female backup singer, I would have mistaken this for a BNL song. Of course, I said almost the same thing about "Every Subway Car".

@robf6105

This easily could have been a Barenaked Ladies song. One of the better ones.

@abarragan2973

I very rarely liked any of the BNL songs that Ed sang. With that said, the duo was great. Still, glad to hear Steven on his own.

Same! I was a HUGE fan of the band, saw scores of their concerts. I found out when they split that I was really just a fan of the magic the five of them had on stage, and a HUGE fan of Mr. Steven Page.
