With a lineup composed of Sam Fryer (vocals, guitar), Chilli Jesson (vocals, bass), Pete Mayhew (keyboards) and Will Doyle (drums), the band's musical output was primarily based around the rock genre, with some Garage rock and psychedelic influences. Their first single 'Best of Friends' was voted NME's song of the year for 2012. Palma Violets second single 'Step Up For The Cool Cats' was announced and released on 9th February. Palma Violets' debut album 180 was released on the 25 February 2013.
Following the release of their 2015 album Danger in the Club, there was a noted silence from the band on social media leading to speculation that the band had split up. This was confirmed in an interview by Matt Wilkinson with guitarist Sam Fryer on 11 July 2018. All the members of Palma Violets bar Alexander "Chilli" Jesson are currently in a new band called Gently Tender with Celia Archer of The Big Moon. Of the affair he noted "We didn't fall out or anything like that. We just changed as people. We were 18 when we started the band and everything is quite easy to get on the same page, write the same kind of music all the time. Whereas when you hit 24 after 5 years of touring, I think you just become different people and we naturally just moved on"
I Found Love

And I've been paid off
Stood out into the sun cause I'm not done
I'm gonna find myself a lady friend
And stick by her until the end
La la la la la Layla
I found love
I'm gonna find myself a lady friend
And stick by her until the end
La la la la la Layla
I found love
Oh no
You are my serpentine
But I'll never look you in the eyes again
You are my one divine
But I'll never look you in the eyes again
These lyrics from Palma Violets' song "I Found Love" tell a story of someone who has just come out of a difficult situation and is ready to move on to the next chapter in their life. The first few lines, "Laughing all the way to the cell / And I've been paid off / Stood out into the sun cause I'm not done," suggest that the singer has perhaps just been released from prison or some other kind of confinement. He's paid off his debts and is ready to start fresh, determined not to let anything hold him down.
The next part of the song is more optimistic, as the singer declares his intention to find a woman and stick by her through thick and thin. The repetition of the phrase "La la la la la Layla" gives the song a playful, almost childlike quality, as if the singer is singing a nursery rhyme. This could be interpreted as a sign of his newfound freedom and creativity. He's not going to take life too seriously anymore; he's going to find love and have fun.
The final lines of the song are more ambiguous. "You are my serpentine / But I'll never look you in the eyes again / You are my one divine / But I'll never look you in the eyes again." It's unclear who the singer is addressing here, but it seems to be someone he had a deep connection with at some point in his life. He knows they are important to him, but he can't face them anymore. Perhaps they are the reason he ended up in prison. The repetition of "I'll never look you in the eyes again" suggests a sense of shame or regret.

When we were about 18, my best friend and I used to watch this video everytime before we went to a party. Seven years later she moved to another country and we don’t see each other that often, but sometimes I watch this video and it reminds me of all of our adventures together, and it makes me happy

This might be their best song. Brilliant melody and harmony. Guitar solo reminded me all the weird party in college days. What an amazing.
