Luego de disolver ésta banda inició una carrera solista, acompañado por la banda La Fuerza Suave, integrada por Mariano Bairnes (bajo, guitarra acústica, mandolina, charango y coros) Mariano Mieres (guitarra eléctrica y coros) y Javier Foppiano (batería y percusión). El álbum debut fue "A través de los sueños", una placa editada simultáneamente con el nacimiento de su primera hija. Este disco recorre diferentes estilos musicales, como el candombe, la chacarera, una bossa nova, y hasta una cadencia tanguera.

Las críticas fueron excelentes. Por ejemplo, Clarín escribía: «no solo es lo mejor que hizo desde "Espiritango", sino que redefine su lugar de culto: el disco salió porque tenía que salir, porque cada segundo es materia de catarsis y porque lo que urge... surge. Están aquí todos los palos de Palo —desde el latino (Eclipse bien) al casi metálico (La nueva flor)—, pero sobre todo está, en los arreglos y sobregrabaciones vocales, su desbordante y pasional mundo artístico. Como un loco, Palo se habla y contesta a sí mismo. Sueña despierto, otra vez»

En el 2004 editó "Antojo", un disco con versiones de temas de Charly Garcia, Radiohead, David Bowie, Quilapayún, Silvio Rodríguez, Mano Negra y de Don Cornelio y La Zona y Los Visitantes.

Para "Ritual criollo" (2008) estuvo acompañado por los músicos Raúl Gutta (batería y percusión), Sergio Gutiérrez (piano, teclados y acordeón), Gustavo Senmartín (bajo, contrabajo, guitarra criolla, programación y samples), Rodrigo Guerra (guitarra criolla) y Santiago Fernández.
