Play On

An everlasting Song
Taken this prisoners to a place where we belong
If the tune stops, I will not wake Oh No
Without us I am no one,
My soul swells and aches
So I am the day
But I will keep it in my Locket
If you'll lead the band, I will have to follow
There is no escape for me So Play on
Keep me dancing in the air
Play on, No one else can compare
Play on, to the harmony of our sweet rapture
Play on, you have a supernatural flair
Play on, Push me further than I dare
Play on, Play on, Play on
So play on for me
So If this melody just stopped or fade away
Oceans will drain out and the stars disintegrate
It's like 2 roads, I have lost all my control, I look into you, you make me rock and roll
So I am the day
When the music dies so will our love, there will be some pain
But I will keep it in my locket
If you will lead the band, I will have to follow
There is no escape 4 me So play on
Keep me dancing in the air
No else can compare, play on
To the harmony of our sweet rapture
Play on,
You have a super natural flair
Play on, push me further than I dare
Play on, play on, play on
So play on for me
Keep me dancing in the air
No one else can compare
To the harmony of our sweet rapture
Play on,
You have a super natural flair
Play on, push me further than I dare
Play on, play on, play on
So play on for me
In Paloma Faith's song "Play On," she speaks of the importance of music and how it can carry one into a state of peace and euphoria. Faith describes the harmonies of music as a lullaby and an everlasting song, one that takes prisoners to a place where they belong. The tune of the music is what keeps her going, and without it, she feels incomplete. Faith suggests that the soul's emptiness and pain can only be filled through music, and it serves as a conduit to something greater. The lyrics are also a testament to how love and music can be intertwined. Faith notes that if the tune stops or fades, so will the love, and pain will follow.
Accordingly, Faith explains that she is the day when the music dies, a metaphor for her own existence. She describes her love as being locked away, safely tucked in her locket. She will follow her partner, who will lead the band, and that she has no escape from her existence. Faith pleads, "Play on for me, keep me dancing in the air, no one else can compare." For her, music is not just ordinary notes and melodies, it is a supernatural essence that pushes her beyond what she thinks she's capable of.
