The styles they played in this era were firstly a hard glam rock style similar to Van Halen and Kiss, then a more tougher glam metal style similar to Motley Crue and Dokken then on "Power Metal" an early 80's Judas Priest style of traditional metal.
The first 3 records include original singer Terry "Glaze" Lee along with all time members "Diamond" Darrell Abbott (Dimebag) (Guitar), Rex "Rocker"Brown (Bass) and Vinnie Paul Abbott(Drums). "Power Metal" was where they first recruited Phil Anselmo who was frontman until the band's demise in the 2000's following Dimebag's murder.
All 4 records were released on their independent label Metal Magic records which was ran by the Abbott brothers' father in Texas, USA.
Death Trap
Pantera (80s) Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're gone
A million miles away
But you know I'm comin'
Violence that
Blows you into space
And you think
Like you did before
But you're the type
I never feel sorry for, so
Fall into my death trap
Fall into my death trap
Life's paranoia
You're hiding in
The dark all day
At night I call you
'Cause I know
You're always wide awake
So you never
Sleep at all at night
Extermination
Of you're wasted life
So now I've got you
You're cornered like a fool
I terminate you
Live by my golden rule
Task complete
And once again I've won
Now I search
For another victim to come
I can't explain the sheer
Thrill of it all
Its such a chill
To watch the meek just fall
Death trap
Death trap
Fall in
The lyrics of "Death Trap" by Pantera are about a predator stalking its prey. The lyrics are written from the predator's point of view. The song starts with the predator seeing the prey running a million miles away but knows that it is coming. The predator talks about the violence that it has in store for the prey and how it believes that the prey thinks that it can get away like before but it is not true because the predator never feels sorry for the prey.
The chorus is a call for the prey to fall into its death trap. The predator talks about the life of paranoia that the prey is living in and how it is hiding in the dark all day. The predator knows that the prey is always wide awake at night, and it calls on the prey, knowing that it will respond. The predator talks about the extermination of the prey's wasted life, and now it has the prey cornered like a fool. The predator uses its golden rule to terminate the prey, and once again, it has won. The predator then looks for another victim to come and talks about the thrill of watching the meek fall.
Overall, the lyrics of "Death Trap" showcase the mindset of a predator and how it tracks and terminates its prey. It highlights the thrill that the predator gets out of hunting and killing.

I see you runnin'
I notice that you're running away from me

You're aware that I'm chasing after you
Violence that
I use an aggressive approach that
Blows you into space
Knocks you away to a distance
And you think
You believe that
You're gonna get away
You can escape from me
Like you did before
In a similar way to the past
But you're the type
You are the kind of person
I never feel sorry for, so
I don't feel compassionate towards you, hence

Phil Anselmo is the youngest guy here honestly, and Its not lost at all how much Pantera actually gave him a chance and it just was the best thing that had happened. Yeah, everyone else was at least 10 years older than Phil was. everyone else at the end is basically calling him an asshole, especially after darrell was shot, but i dont think it was lost at all on him.
I think at some Point, Phil realized he was actually destroying the guys who had helped him the most. He had called Darrell an asshole one day but the rest of them are basically saying the same thing.
I think at least, it is one of the biggest reasons, eventually that Phil finally helped himself.
He talked a whole lot of shit but eventually, he realized it I guess he said, Nobody actually helped me more than Darrell or Vinnie.Its, honestly almost awful. The guy who saved this band pretty much, he had almost also destroyed it in the end
If it wasnt for Phil, this band just might have faded away like the rest of them did at the end of the 80s.. But if it also wasnt for him, This band would not have ended a decade later in 2002.
the only credit ive given to him is that he realizes that.

Bullshit .
The Priest , Nwobhm and thrashy touch was There even in the chugging in I'll be allright , Metal magic
Then it did go heavier .
Project in the jungle and i am the night .
That sound nothing like Bon jovi .
But a Blend of Heavy metal , Melodic Hard rock , Speed metal and stuff that predict their future in thoses .
Then Power metal .
Power metal was already ready before Phil arrival.
The only big change is , Phil vocals
Updated agression by 10 .

If this were on Cowboys From Hell, it'd be considered one of their all-time classics
@mvsfan3335
Theres no question, Half this album IS cowboys. The other half isnt even close.
The only problem with the whole entire thing is that they still looked ridiculous and the other half of the problem is that half of this was leftovers. Yeah, They should have just given this whole album to Phil because half of it is.
Its one thing more often than not that really made fans not so happy, the first time most of us heard this song.
@bchurliman
@@mvsfan3335what do you mean they looked ridiculous they looked a lot better on power metal than in there other albums they looked like true rockers heard the other albums they looked weird and Phil look like Eminem this is when they looked the most badass and this music was better
@groso452
@@bchurlimanbro they looked ridiculous on power metal
@LambOfLucifer
Back in the day Phil could sing on par if not better than Rob Halford. Guys range was insane. And as for Dime, he had already mastered the instrument. Vince was the best drummer in Texas, and Rex had had years of musical training. The guys were soo tight live. It is super rare to find a band where every member kicks ass and as a whole unit they are unmatched. No wonder they ended up Stronger Than All!

It's a pity all that talent would go to waste in the years to come
@edybocman76
@Patrick Meredith know he can hit the black metal notes he had a different style
@derekmartinez7134
The fact that they had been recordings albums since 83 was the main reason Cowboys sounded so good, they had talent, they had drive and they had chemistry. And they always brought their A game.
@RapidCycling07
@LambOfLucifer: Power Metal and CFH are the best PanterA albums IMO. If they would've at least kept the CFH sound for several more albums, that would've been great. The newer stuff is good too, but those first two albums with Phil rule. Btw why be LambOfLucifer? Lucifer hates you and wants you & everyone else in hell. Anyway, time to listen to more Pantera Power Metal epicness. PEACE!
@wesleymcghee5083
Agreed!
