Metal Church
Panzerchrist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Men did gather secretly beyond a hidden door
They travelled long and travelled far
Darkness through the night
Yes, this is the place they've chosen
To build another site
Congregation rises, starts to chant a hymn
The crazies stand before them while the others wait
Why they worship metal gods each and every day
All the evil things we do, the secrets that we keep
Metal church, unholy, can't you be the sacrifice
Metal church, the only, don't you know the time is right
Metal church will find you, comes from very far
Metal church inside you, knows just who you are
No use in speaking out against anything we do
Now the story starts again, all the time is lost
Metal Church begins to do...
Watch the souls become lost
Metal church, unholy, can't you be the sacrifice
Metal church, the only, don't you know the time is right
Metal church will find you, comes from very far
Metal church inside you, knows just who you are
The metal church!
The lyrics of Panzerchrist's song Metal Church describe a group of men who have gathered secretly on a distant shore to worship metal gods. The congregation rises and starts to chant a hymn of evil, lust and hatred, which are described as the roots of every sin. The crazies stand before them while the others wait, and they worship metal gods each and every day. The lyrics suggest that there are secrets being kept and evil things being done within this congregation.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Metal church, unholy, can't you be the sacrifice" and "Metal church, the only, don't you know the time is right," which could be interpreted as a call to action for the members of the congregation to sacrifice themselves to the metal gods. The lyrics continue to describe that the metal church will find you, comes from very far, and is inside you, which could suggest that the worship of metal gods is not limited to this specific congregation, but is a universal concept.
The lyrics of Panzerchrist's Metal Church are open to interpretation, but they seem to describe a group of people who are worshiping metal gods and engaging in secretive and potentially sinful behavior. The song has a dark and ominous vibe, which is emphasized by the heavy use of distorted guitars and intense drumming.

Está versão ficou muito louca 🤘🏾

Yeah I find it more in people my age now. I am 48 and I many of my contemporaries comment on how they think stuff like this has no redeeming value. They could not be more wrong. I love all metal and especially liking the modern stuff because bands like this are really exploring the genre in ways I could have never imagined:)

I am a huge Metal Church fan and have been for 30 years. Yes people may rip on this cover, and that is their prerogative. However let us not forget that each generation owes something to the ones that came before it, even if they interpret it differently. that is how genres evolve. Remember how many of us used to complain at one point or another that Metal's Church's cover of Highway Star was bad? This genre above all others in music has always evolved.

I hate songs of this type but this one is so badass that I am listening to it times and times again. I might be turning into a fan !

Fucking awesome. I love the vocals too, and I rarely say that about vocals of this type.

I guess I should be the one who schools a few people who believe that there was some sort of "drum machine" for this song. Their drummer is Reno Hilligsø Kiilerich. If you do not know who he is he earned a reputation by winning the Winter NAMM Show competition "Worlds Fastest Feet" in Anaheim, CA, in 2003 (that's 802 strokes in 60 seconds) and set a record for single stroke rolls. He is legit.

Well Done! I like the darker version. I also like they didn't copy the original with the harmonics. The sick double bass drums roll nice with the guitar.

No use in speaking out against anything we do While the men of earth they sleep, haven't any clue Now the story starts again, all the time is lost Metal Church begins anew.... Saving souls that are lost.

a real growl is an art, breathing techniques are crucial to 1) sound deep and "brutal" (you know, not sounding "forced") and 2) to really pronounce the words, for example immolation, the words are growled but very clean and easy to understand. if you dont believe me, ask a professional singing teacher, he will say as well that the growl is a difficult style. in the end it is about taste, just because you dont like it it doesnt mean it is not music. this is not dubstep after all.

This song caused me much neck wrenching over the years.
