Born on born 9th January 1987 in Paisley, Scotland, his father is of Italian descent and his mother Glaswegian, although his father's family have been in Scotland for four generations. Nutini had no formal music training, and was expecting to follow his father into the family fish and chip shop business. He was first encouraged to sing by his music-loving grandfather and a teacher at his school who recognised his talent. He left school to work as a roadie and to sell T-shirts for Speedway and spent three years learning the music business, performing live, alone and with a band, and working as a studio hand at Glasgow's Park Lane Studio.
His big chance came when he attended a concert for David Sneddon's return to his home town of Paisley at the beginning of 2003. Sneddon was delayed, and as the winner of an impromptu pop quiz, Nutini was given the chance to perform a couple of songs on stage during the wait. The favourable reaction of the crowd impressed another member of the audience, who offered to become his manager.
A Daily Record journalist, John Dingwall, saw him performing at the Queen Margaret Union, and invited him to appear live on Radio Scotland. Still only seventeen, he moved to London, and performed regularly at the Bedford pub in Balham whilst still legally too young to drink alcohol himself. Other radio and live appearances followed, including two live acoustic spots on Radio London, The Hard Rock Cafe, and support slots for Amy Winehouse and KT Tunstall.
His debut album, These Streets, produced by Ken Nelson (Coldplay/Gomez), was released on 17th July 2006, and immediately entered the U.K. album charts at number three. Many of the songs on the album, including "Last Request" and "Rewind", were inspired by a turbulent relationship with a girlfriend, and "Jenny Don't Be Hasty" is a true story about encounters with an older woman.
On 29th May 2009 Nutini released his second studio album, Sunny Side Up, after the first single from that album, "Candy", was released on 18th May. In July, he appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, performing "Coming Up Easy". This was released as the second single from the album on 10th August.
Scream
Paolo Nutini Lyrics

And funk my life up
Lips like debbie's, sing sex like strawberry songs
Just funk my life up
Never heard her coming, thought it was just another woman
With a shotgun in her hand
Funk my life up
Just funk my life up
And that girl, so fine
Makes you wanna scream hallelujah
Sly hands, spinning wax lights, oh God
Beats are dripping on me like spider milk
And I never heard the warning when I woke up in the morning
With my sunshine on a drip
She's my rock, she's my but, she's the dealer trip
And that girl, so fine
Makes you wanna scream hallelujah
How could I refuse? I'm not fit to chose
Just funk my life up
Said the only way I win is the way I lose
Just funk my life up
And I never got the script, I unzipped
Got a little bit wet up there in my brain
She's your church, she's your sin, she's a comic, she's a
And that girl, so fine
You wanna scream
She gets me sinning, she's like a trick on me
Hell, I don't even know her name but yet she sticks to me
And in the climax she would scream with me
Yeah, she sticks to me
She gets me funny, she doesn't want none of my money
So I pour it over her like gasoline
Light a match and then I'm back in my teens
Me and super girl smoking my green
Me and super girl smoking my green
Oh, Lord, reload, ice bags, scream
Sweet thing, nose ring, jet pack, sing
That girl so fine, makes you wanna scream hallelujah
Hallelujah
Yeah, that girl, so fine you wanna scream, yeah
The lyrics to Paolo Nutini's "Scream" are about a passionate and exciting romantic encounter with a woman who has unexpectedly entered his life and "funked it up." He compares her to music, describing her as "the bass, she's the beat, she's the rhythm, she's the band" and states that she is so fine that she makes him want to "scream hallelujah." The lyrics suggest that their connection is thrilling and intense, with the singer feeling like he is on a drug-induced trip, at times losing control of his thoughts and feelings.
The verses provide a more vivid picture of the scene, with the singer describing the woman's seductive personality and her ability to surprise him with her charisma and sexual energy. He also admits that he cannot resist her and is willing to let her lead him wherever she wants, saying "said the only way I win is the way I lose, just funk my life up." The repeated phrase "just funk my life up" suggests that the singer is fully embracing this encounter, even though it may be challenging and unpredictable.
