Blood Brothers
Papa Roach Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Watch your back because the next man is coming
And you don't know if the next man is dumbin'
Survival of the fittest what it is
I got your back, you got my back, and that's the biz
Blood is rushing through my veins, I got the power
Channel the energy and with my strength I will devour
Sickenin thoughts is runnin' through my head
That's when I realized I'm glad I'm not dead

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

It was a dream and then it hit me
Reality struck, and now my life is all shifty
And it all moves, close to a buck 50
We all stand strong in respect to the family
In times of insanity
And through words of profanity
I describe our dysfunctional family
Blood brothers keep it real to the end
Deeper than the thoughts you think, not a trend

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

Again and again

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

(Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill,)

Overall Meaning

In Papa Roach's "Blood Brothers," the lyrics express a message of loyalty and unity among "brothers" as a necessary means for survival. The opening lines, "Watch your back because the next man is coming / And you don't know if the next man is dumbin'," warn of the importance of being alert and ready for anything, as life is unpredictable and others may pose a threat. The idea of "survival of the fittest" is also prevalent, as the lyrics suggest that in order to succeed in life, one must have the support of others and be willing to fight for their survival.

The chorus of the song drives home the message of destruction and violence that seems to be part of human nature. "It's in our nature to destroy ourselves / It's in our nature to kill ourselves / It's in our nature to kill each other / It's our nature to kill, kill, kill" suggests that despite the need for loyalty and unity among individuals, there is also an inherent tendency towards self-destruction and violence that is difficult to escape.

The verses of "Blood Brothers" continue to explore the theme of loyalty and familial unity. The lyrics, "Blood is rushing through my veins, I got the power / Channel the energy and with my strength I will devour / Sickenin thoughts is runnin' through my head / That's when I realized I'm glad I'm not dead" emphasize the importance of tapping into one's own strength and power in order to overcome challenges and survive in a world that can be violent and unpredictable. The song ultimately suggests that while individuals may be prone to self-destruction and violence, loyalty and unity among those who are closest can help to counteract these tendencies.

Anybody else remember this song from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2? I remember playing it and having this song on repeat. I must have listened to it well over a hundred times. This was the first song I ever really liked and later this album became my first CD and then you can take it from there.

Also I want you play Addicted by Saving Abel and Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down!!!

That game had a great soundtrack. Better than the first one, IMO. The first Tony Hawk Pro Skater had Dead Kennedys and Goldfinger.
