Lifeline

When I was a boy
I didn't care 'bout a thing
It was me and this world and a broken dream
I was blaming myself
For all that was going wrong

I was way out there
On the wrong side of town
And the ones that I loved
I started pushing 'em out
Then I realized
That it was all my fault

I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline

So I put out my hand
And I asked for some help
We tore down the walls I built around myself
I was struck by the light
And I fell to the ground

I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
Is there anybody out there?
Can you pull me from this ocean of despair?
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline

You know a heart of gold
Won't take you all the way
And in a world so cold
It's hard to keep the faith
I'm never gonna fade away!

Yeah!

I've been looking for a lifeline
For what seems like a lifetime
I'm drowning in the pain
Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline
Is there anybody out there?
Can you pull me from this ocean of despair?
I'm drowning in the pain

Breaking down again
Looking for a lifeline (looking for a lifeline)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Papa Roach's song "Lifeline" are about the struggle to find hope and help in a time of despair. The singer, reflecting on his childhood, realizes that he had pushed away those he loved by blaming himself for everything that went wrong. He then sings about his search for a "lifeline," a metaphor for someone or something to help him out of the pain he feels. He puts out his hand and asks for help, and as a result, the walls he built around himself come down and he is struck by the "light."

The chorus repeats the singer's desire for a "lifeline," emphasizing his desperation and need. He asks if there is anyone out there who can pull him from the "ocean of despair" and help him to not "fade away."

The overall message of the song is hopeful, as it implies that people can find the help they need if they are willing to ask for it. The metaphor of diving underwater and drowning in pain is one that many listeners can relate to, and the song offers the idea that there is hope if they can reach out for help.

I think you guys should review movies. Both have movie experience and I think would have a funny take on reviewing some ridiculous movies.

Matt Alexandrescu

Chris was 100% right in the proposal part...you can't ask someone to marry them after having explosive diarrhea like come on even if you're not the most romantic person put in a bit of effort, take them out to dinner or a picnic or something

Kevin Mueller

Chris was NOT wrong. Matt blew it on the proposal part I hope they rewatch it and address it

Tom Cichowski

Nope. She's fun af for that, buddies just kind of a dud.

A Guy.

Ehh no she’s not. If i was him i would have done the same thing. It’s subjective and for him to be her soon husband she should have known that when they were both demolishing the inside of a bathroom, it wasn’t quite the time or place to propose.
Reverse the roles and see if if would have passed the test; would she have been pleased in this scenario?

Kevin Mueller

@A Guy. he was also basically saying the dude was a bitch and he should be proposing

Tom Cichowski

@A Guy. you're right, it's subjective. I'm just different I guess, if my girl did that I'd find it hilarious. I can see where she's coming from doing that but she should know her partner better at the end of the day

English guy

It IS subjective. Some would find it funny an endearing, but some would want to remember that moment forever and don't want the attachment of explosive diarrhea attached to it.
