The Sum
Papadosio Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I look at my hands and then looked into the Sun
How could it be that we can't see what we've begun?

What does it mean when we stay locked up inside?
What's in the stars for us? What are we trying to hide?

The mission is spelled out for us and everyone
It's like it's always been there
The mission is spelled out for us and everyone
It's like it's always been there

Why are you where you are? Who put you there?
Have you ever wondered why? Have you tried to care?

You are her best idea, the dream of the Earth
What you imagine is the sum of your worth

The mission is spelled out for us and everyone
It's like it's always been there

The mission is spelled out for us and everyone
It's like it's always been there

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Papadosio's song, The Sum, revolve around the theme of self-discovery and introspection. The opening lines, "I look at my hands and then looked into the Sun, How could it be that we can't see what we've begun?" suggest a kind of sense of awe and wonder about what we, as humans, are capable of. It could be interpreted as a reflection on the remarkable things that are possible with human existence and how often we fail to recognize or appreciate it. The second verse raises questions about the purpose of our existence and what we might be missing out on by staying enclosed within our own minds. The lines "What's in the stars for us? What are we trying to hide?" indicate a desire to explore the unknown and to discover what kind of potential the universe holds.

The lyrics then take a reflective turn towards the individual, asking "Why are you where you are? Who put you there? Have you ever wondered why? Have you tried to care?" These lines urge us to question our own lives and reflect on how we got to where we are. The song encourages self-exploration and reminds us of our innate value and potential to impact the world. The line "You are her best idea, the dream of the Earth, What you imagine is the sum of your worth" is a powerful reminder of our place on this planet and our responsibility to nurture it for generations to come.

Overall, The Sum is a song that invites us to explore the depths of our own minds, encouraging us to push past our limits and reach for our highest potential.

I will always remember seeing Papadosio at AURA Festival in Florida. It was my first time ever going to a music festival. There was a full moon out on the first night and spanish moss hung all around. I met some beautiful people and slept under the stars. Such a positive experience!

That was probably a great show. I listen to some recordings of sets from AURA. They always played a proper set there so I'm sure it was a great experience :) I had many similar around this band.. they're my favorite for that reason and they make me feel and dance.. good stuff. Being alive, that is.

@fluffhead6540

It saddens me that this music is not mainstream..this is what our world needs--healing--loving--sharing...not that pop sucks its just not what the world needs. It delivers an egotistical message i feel and i just don't care too much for it, Its time for Progression--its time we take our Earth back--Its time we wake up-Spread the Love for we need it more than ever-Time To End The Illusion Of Separation
