What Side of Love
Parachute Lyrics

Is it giving you all that you want? (All that you want?)
Is it taking you higher?
Are you walking the wire?
What side of love are you on?
It will wake you up in the dead of night
When you feel alone it can change your mind
It can make you feel you're bulletproof
Or can cut you down with the smallest truth
Sometimes it can take control
Sometimes it just lets you go
Ooh, lets you go
What side of love are you on?
Is it giving you all that you want?
Is it taking you higher?
Are you walking the wire?
What side of love are you on?
It can light you up
It can leave you cold
From the atmosphere
To the ground below
If black and white turn into gray
Maybe love is just the same
Ooh, just the same
So tell me
What side of love are you on? (what side of love?)
Is it giving you all that you want? (all that you want?)
Is it taking you higher?
Are you walking the wire? (oh)
What side of love are you on? (what side of love?)
Oh, oh, don't give up, don't give up on
All, all what we've got, what we've got, no
Oh, oh, don't give up, don't give up on
Taking sides with me
Well you don't have a choice once it's gone
So what side of love are you on?
What side of love are you on? (what side of love?)
Is it giving you all that you want? (all that you want?)
Is it taking you higher?
Are you walking the wire? (oh)
What side of love are you on? (what side of love?)
Oh, oh, don't give up, don't give up
All, all, what we've got, what we've got
Oh, oh, don't give up, don't give up
What side of love are you on? (what side of love?)
What side of love?
(Don't give up, don't give up) don't give up
(What we've got, what we've got) oh, what we've got
The lyrics of Parachute's song "What Side of Love" explore the various aspects and complexities of love. The opening lines pose the question of which side of love the listener is on, referring to the different experiences and perspectives people may have when it comes to love. It questions whether love is fulfilling their desires and expectations, or if it is bringing them to new heights or uncertain situations.
The lyrics suggest that love can have a powerful impact on one's emotions and decisions. It can awaken someone in the middle of the night, making them feel alive and changing their perspective. Love can guide them on what to say or even encourage them to walk away. It can make them feel invincible or vulnerable, with the potential to control or simply let go. Love is portrayed as a catalyst for both strength and vulnerability.
The song also reflects on the contrast and unpredictability of love. It can bring warmth and happiness, or leave one feeling cold and empty. Just like the ever-changing atmosphere, love can transition between black and white, leading to uncertainty and gray areas. The lyrics imply that, even in the face of uncertainty, love remains constant and universal.
Towards the end of the song, the lyrics express a plea to not give up on love and the connection they have with someone. It emphasizes that love is something to be cherished and fought for, as once it is gone, the choice is removed. The repeated question of which side of love they are on encourages self-reflection and the exploration of their own experiences and feelings about love.
Overall, "What Side of Love" poses deep questions about the different dimensions and influences of love, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own experiences and perspectives in the realm of love.
