Paramore, as a quartet, released their debut studio album, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005. The band rose to prominence in 2007 after the release of the hit single Misery Business from their second studio album Riot!. Crushcrushcrush and That's What You Get were released as the following singles experiencing commercial success. The band was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The band announced the official line-up addition of Taylor York in June 2009 prior to the release of Brand New Eyes due later the same year. Josh Farro (guitar) and his brother Zac Farro left the band the following year, resulting in Paramore to continue as a trio.
From 2013 to 2014, Paramore released several singles from the self-titled album, including the singles Still Into You and Ain't It Fun. The latter became the band's highest-peaking single as well as their first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned the band their first Grammy award for "Best Rock Song" the following year. At the end of 2015, it was reported Jeremy Davis (bass guitar) left the band.
In 2017, Zac Farro officially rejoined the band, prior to the release of their fifth studio album, "After Laughter".

But I don't see you around anymore
I go to all the same places, not even a trace of you
Your days are numbered at twenty four
And as I'm getting bored waiting 'round for you
We're not getting any younger, and I
Won't look back 'cause there's no use
It's time to move forward
I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by, the rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry
Well, I tried not to think of what might happen
When your reality, it finally cuts through
Well, as for me, I got out and I'm on the road
The worst part is that this (this), this could be you
You know it too, you can't run from your shame
You're not getting any younger, time
Keeps passing by, but you waited awake
It's time to roll over
I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by, the rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time for feeling sorry
And all the best lies
They are told with fingers tied
So cross them tight
Won't you promise me tonight
If it's the last thing you do, you'll get out
I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by the rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
I've got no time, I've got no time
I feel no sympathy
You live inside a cave
You barely get by the rest of us are trying
There's no need to apologize
Got no time
I've got no time for feeling sorry
I've got no time for feeling sorry
In the lyrics to "Feeling Sorry," Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams speaks to an individual who has, according to the chorus, "barely get[s] by, the rest of us are trying." The verses paint a picture of a stagnant relationship between the two, with Williams lamenting that she still lives in the same town as this person but never sees them around anymore. She emphasizes the importance of not dwelling on the past and instead moving forward, especially because "We're not getting any younger." The chorus drives home the message that Williams has no sympathy for this person's situation and that they need to take responsibility for their own actions and predicament.
The second verse highlights the other person's sense of shame and the fact that they have not been able to move out of their current situation. Williams urges them to make a change and not waste any more time, even though she has no obligation to feel sorry for them. The bridge shifts from addressing this person directly to making more general statements about lies and promises, ultimately reiterating that it's time for this person to leave their cave at last.
Overall, the song is a call to action and an affirmation of individual responsibility. Williams' strong vocals and the pulsing instrumentation create a sense of urgency and determination that complements the lyrics' messages.

When I fist listened to this I honestly got kinda angry. How could someone who was in the same place as the person that this song is referring to, be so insensitive towards them? But as time got by, I finally understood. You can't excuse treating someone like shit because of your problems, or your disorders, or whatever. And it gets to a point that abandoning yourself hurts others, and it starts being an act of selfishness not to even try to take the helping hand that that person is desperately lending to you. It's not about telling a depressed person to "get over themselves", it's actually saying "I was exactly where you are, but I got out, even though it was immensely difficult to do so, just because I *tried*. I didn't give up on myself, I didn't give up on this relationship. Not like you did, which ended up hurting me deeply. So that's why I don't feel sorry for you."
At least that's what this song means to me.

I don't think the person doesn't feel sorry for the other. I think it's more like: I've been there, you don't need to apologize.
