Strange how we found ourselves exactly where we left off
I know you're shaking my hand like it is the first time
Are we alright?
Are you recounting all my faults?
And are you racking your brain just to find them all?
Could it be that I've changed? Or did you?

Stop asking why
Why we had to waste so much time
Well, we just pick up, pick up and start again
'Cause we can't keep holding on to grudges

Time is a bastard I won't break my neck to get around it
But aren't we so brave to give up a fight
And let the years go by without us?
'Cause now I feel you by my side
And I don't even care if it's been a while
I can feel that we've changed and we're better this way

Stop asking why
Why we had to waste so much time
Well, we just pick up, pick up and start again
'Cause we can't keep holding on to grudges

And if you wanna call me up or come over
Come on, we'll laugh 'til we cry
Like we did when we were kids
'Cause we can't keep holding on to grudges

Why did it take so long?
Why did it take so long?
Why did it take us so long to just let go?
Why did it take us so long? Stop holding on

Stop asking why
Why we had to waste so much time
Well, we just pick up, pick up and start again
'Cause we can't keep holding on to grudges

And if you wanna call me up or come over
Come on we'll laugh 'til we cry
Like we did when we were kids
'Cause we can't keep holding on to grudges
We can't keep keep holding on to grudges

Could it be that I've changed?
Could it be that I've changed?

Could it be that I've changed?
Could it be that I've changed? Or did you?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Paramore's song "Grudges" suggest a reunion between two people who have not seen each other in a long time, maybe due to a falling-out or an unresolved conflict. The singer wonders if the other person is still harboring resentment and going through all the faults or mistakes that led to their separation. However, there seems to be a desire to move past the grudge and start anew, as they acknowledge they can't keep holding on to grudges. The lyrics also touch on the idea of time being a powerful force that can both separate and bring people back together. Despite the years that have gone by, the singer feels a connection with the other person and a sense that they have both changed for the better. The song ends with a plea to stop holding on and an invitation to let go of grudges and reconnect in the present.

Overall, "Grudges" is about reconciling with someone from the past and moving past negative emotions. It emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, growth, and the ability to start fresh by letting go of grudges. It recognizes that relationships can be complicated and messy, but it is possible to overcome past misunderstandings and build stronger connections.

This album follows on from self titled album the feel of it. Especially this song it reminds me of a song from self titled album so it is still in the same direction of last album which is amazing. 😃😄🎉🎧🎶
