Paramore, as a quartet, released their debut studio album, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005. The band rose to prominence in 2007 after the release of the hit single Misery Business from their second studio album Riot!. Crushcrushcrush and That's What You Get were released as the following singles experiencing commercial success. The band was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The band announced the official line-up addition of Taylor York in June 2009 prior to the release of Brand New Eyes due later the same year. Josh Farro (guitar) and his brother Zac Farro left the band the following year, resulting in Paramore to continue as a trio.
From 2013 to 2014, Paramore released several singles from the self-titled album, including the singles Still Into You and Ain't It Fun. The latter became the band's highest-peaking single as well as their first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned the band their first Grammy award for "Best Rock Song" the following year. At the end of 2015, it was reported Jeremy Davis (bass guitar) left the band.
In 2017, Zac Farro officially rejoined the band, prior to the release of their fifth studio album, "After Laughter".
Use Somebody

Always looking down at all I see
Painted faces fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you
And how you speak
Countless lovers undercover of the street
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you
Off in the night
While you live it up I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shape the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice
Someone like me
Someone like me
Someone like me
Somebody
Someone like you
Somebody
Someone like you
Somebody
Someone like you
Somebody
I've been roaming around
Always looking down at all I see
The lyrics of Paramore’s song Use Somebody are about vulnerability, loneliness and the desire for human connection. The first verse describes the singer’s feelings of isolation and disconnection from the world around her. She feels like an outsider, always looking down on the painted faces of those around her, unable to reach them. The repetition of “You know that I could use somebody” in the chorus emphasizes the singer’s longing for a human connection.
The second verse describes the singer’s admiration for someone who possesses all the qualities she desires in a companion. She admires their knowledge, their way of thinking and their ability to seamlessly blend into their surroundings. The mention of “countless lovers undercover of the street” implies that there are many people like her, struggling to connect with others.
The bridge reveals the singer’s frustration with her circumstances. She is envious of those who seem to effortlessly enjoy life while she struggles to find her place in the world. She hopes that her struggles will somehow make her stand out and catch the attention of someone like her, someone who is also looking for a connection.
In short, the song is about the struggle of feeling isolated and searching for a human connection. The singer’s vulnerability and longing for someone to understand her are conveyed through the lyrics.
