Renegade
Paramore (Best-Muzon.ru) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The grass wasn't green enough here
After watering it with my tears
I'm not sure where you went
Now we are, just past tense
The snakes, they are slithering in
Chasing me to my end
I can't say where that is
I'm running again

Oh, when I get there
It won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
I always was

Well, your spark never lit up the fire
Though we tried and tried and tried
The wind came through your lungs
A hurricane from your tongue
I'll keep your secrets with me
Right behind my teeth
The anger, the anchor
I'll sail much further on
Ah, ah, on

Oh, when I get there
it won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
I always was

I'll keep running
I'll keep running again
keep running
I'll keep running
running, running
Keep running, running
running

Oh, when I get there
it won't be far enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood
If ever I get there
It won't be fast enough
I'm a renegade
It's in my blood

I'm a renegade
I always was

Overall Meaning

"Renegade" by Paramore is a song that expresses the feeling of being lost and feeling like a renegade, someone who lives outside of society's expectations. The opening lines suggest the frustration of hard work not bearing fruit. The grass doesn't seem green enough even after crying on it, perhaps implying that the world is harsh and unforgiving no matter how much we try. The uncertainty of not knowing where the other person went makes the singer feel directionless and lost.

The next lines talk about a feeling of being pursued by the past, represented by snakes, and feeling like the end is near. The song infuses some hope and defiance by saying that even though they may not know where they are heading, they will keep running. The chorus highlights the singer's rebellious spirit and their desire to break free from expectations and be their own person. They say that even if they find their destination, it won't be satisfying and will keep moving forward.

The bridge talks about the failure of a relationship, where one person's spark never lit the fire between them. The ending lines talk about keeping the secrets and angers of the past and sailing on. In conclusion, "Renegade" is a song about the longing for independence and the struggle against the past.

This track is so underappreciated and underrated it hurts my soul. Also people saying Self-Titled and After Laughter were surprises, dude Singles Club is literally a transition from punk-rocky edge to pop rockish things, and here we are in 2017 with After Laughter almost exclusively pop album with a good-old Paramore twist on things. I just love Paramore all together.
