He was born in Seoul, but when he was a child his family moved to Fairfax, Virginia, where he attended middle school. It's when he stared using the name Micky. His American friends introduced him to hip-hop, he also loved K-pop and wanted to perform. When he was only 16 years old he moved back to Korea to pursuit singing career and support his family financially.
After a short period of training he debuted as a member of TVXQ 東方神起 in 2003 alongside Jung Yunho U-know, Kim Jae Joong, Kim Junsu XIA and Shim Changmin Max Changmin under SM Entertainment. His role was low range vocalist and rapper, and his concept was dandy American, therefore he usually wore fashionable clothes and fancy hats. The group was immensely popular in Korea and Japan, and is considered one of the most influential boybands of the 2nd generation of K-pop.
In 2009 Yuchun, Junsu and Jaejoong filed a lawsuit against their label, since they felt exploited and treated unfairly. Their contract was terminated, and in 2010 the three friends formed the band JYJ under C-JeS Entertainment.
In 2010 Yuchun debuted as an actor. He starred in dramas Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), Miss Ripley (2011), Rooftop Prince (2012), Missing You (2012), Three Days (2014) and The Girl Who Sees Smells (2015). He was also the leading actor in Haemo (Sea Fog, 2014) and had a supporting role in Lucid Dream (2016). He won multiple awards for most of his roles and is considered one of the best K-pop idols turned actors.
In 2016 he released his first solo mini album How Much Love Do You have in Your Wallet, and in 2019 the first full lenght album Slow Dance.
In 2019 C-JeS terminated Yuchun's contract as a member of JYJ. After a period of inactivity he set up his own label RE:Cielo and started promoting as a solo artist, begining in Thailand. In 2020 he came back with the album RE:mind. He is also devoted to charity work.
Park Yuchun's official fanclub is called Blue Cielo, and his fans are known as Chunsas.
He has a younger brother Park Yuhwan, also known as Ricky Park or Captain Jack, a former K-drama actor, currently a popular Twitch streamer.
