Lifted
Parker Bossley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Beg, steal or borrow
Time from tommorow
We bleed these days
We bleed these days away
Rise to the bottom
Smoke if you got 'em
We dream these days
We dream these days away

Call my friends when I'm in trouble
They all feel the same

We just wanna get lifted
Okay with doin' it the wrong way (wrong way)
We're just tryna get lifted
Away and float into a new day (new day)

Woke up with the bottle
Empty and hollow
I sleep these days
I sleep these days away (I sleep these days away)
Is this feelin' free
Is this what I need?
Well, I don't know
So I'll just float away (I'll just float away)

Call my friends when I'm in trouble
They all feel the same

We just wanna get lifted
Okay with doin'it the wrong way (wrong way)
We're just tryna get lifted
Away and float into a new day (new day)
We just wanna get...

How high you gotta be to get to heaven?
How far you gotta go to feel like home?
I know some days can drag you if you let 'em
When all we gotta do is let it go

We just wanna get lifted
Okay with doin' it the wrong way (wrong way)
We're just tryna get lifted
Away and float into a new day(new day)

We just wanna get lifted
Lifted
We just wanna get lifted

Lifted(lifted)
We just wanna get...

Overall Meaning

The song "Lifted" by Parker Bossley is a relatable song about the desire to escape from reality and the struggles of everyday life. The lyrics in the first verse, "Beg, steal, or borrow, time from tomorrow, we bleed these days, we bleed these days away," suggest that the singer is willing to do whatever it takes to escape their current situation. They feel trapped, bored, and unhappy, and are looking for a way out. The lyrics "rise to the bottom, smoke if you got 'em, we dream these days, we dream these days away" suggest that the singer is turning to drugs or alcohol as a way to numb their pain and escape their reality.

The second verse, "Woke up with the bottle, empty and hollow, I sleep these days, I sleep these days away," reinforces this idea. The singer is using alcohol to cope with their problems and is lost in a sense of hopelessness. However, they also acknowledge that they don't know if this is the "feeling free" that they need. The chorus, "We just wanna get lifted, okay with doin' it the wrong way (wrong way), we're just tryna get lifted, away and float into a new day (new day)," expresses the desire to escape and feel something different. They just want to feel lifted and forget their problems for a little while.

The bridge of the song, "How high you gotta be to get to heaven? How far you gotta go to feel like home? I know some days can drag you if you let 'em, when all we gotta do is let it go," introduces a new perspective. The singer is questioning what it takes to feel at peace or to feel like they've made it. They recognize that they tend to get dragged down by their problems, but the solution is to simply let them go.

Hey all. Thanks for checking out the video for my new single Lifted. Sebastian, the director, and I were influenced by late 90s rock videos when we made this. We saw parallels between the energy, carefree optimism and escapism of the videos of that era and the concept of the song, and that those same things can lift you through the trials and tribulations of youth — or any trials and tribulations really. Anyway, hope you dig it and, if you do, follow me or leave me a comment below and let me know!

This is epic goodness and I need more of this kind of music to be popular. This song reaches deep into my soul and says I get you, I see you. Parker when you inevitably blow up with your awesome music make sure you come show your east coast fans some love, I'd love to see you in concert somewhere in DC or southern MD.
