STEP BY STEP
Parsons Alan Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was just a joker in a serious game
I Didn't have the Heart to play
But sooner or later
I'll find a reason to throw it away
Risin' on the crest of a natural wave
That Never seems to break my way
I'm livin' without it
But I got to Do something about it
Step by step little by little
Step by step take it line by line
Move move move, move a Little closer

I was Just a runner in a one horse race
Livin' on the don't pass line
Sooner or later
I Got to lose cause I'm wasting my time
Lady luck must have been a wonderful girl
She's never been a Friend of mine
I'm living without her
But I still got that mountain to climb

Step by step little by little
Step by step rake it line by line
Move move move, move a little closer

Step by step the Deal is mine

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Step by Step" by Parsons Alan describe the struggle of finding a purpose in life and dealing with the unpredictability of fate. The singer describes himself as a "joker" who is not serious about the game of life and doesn't have the heart to play it. However, he acknowledges that he needs to find a reason to throw away his complacency and start taking action to achieve his goals. He feels like he's always on the cusp of success or happiness, but the wave always breaks the other way, leaving him defeated. Despite this, he is determined to make progress, little by little, recognizing that every step forward is important, even if it's a small one.

The second verse of the song deepens this sense of struggle and lack of purpose. The singer compares himself to a "runner in a one horse race," meaning he has no competition or motivation to excel. He's gambling his life away, hoping that luck will come his way, but acknowledging that he's wasting his time. The reference to Lady Luck is interesting because it suggests that the singer feels like his success or failure is only determined by chance. However, he still has the desire to climb the mountain in front of him, to work hard and claim what he wants. The chorus repeats the phrase "step by step" and encourages the singer to move closer to his goals, reminding him that success is about steady progress rather than instant achievement.

Overall, the message of "Step by Step" is one of resilience in the face of adversity. The singer acknowledges that life is difficult and sometimes unpredictable, but urges himself to keep moving forward and taking steps toward his goals, no matter how small.

This man was a big part of the extraordinary magic put together by Alan Parsons! Their music is one of the biggest inspirations to my life!

@user-hz8eg3wl2l

Created by Eric Wolfson, this is more accurate.

We were given the chance to live those magic decades, the 70s and 80s when music and artists were producing such masterpieces. It is something inexplicable how a voice, a song, an atmosphere can change the mood in a matter of seconds. APP with the voices of Lenny and Eric marked the best part of my youth. And the magic they did back then is still working today. Sometimes I feel the need to fire up my old car, put a cassette into the stereo, turn up the volume and drive at night with no destination or purpose other than letting my thoughts run free alongside the sound of my own wheels on the asphalt. Thanks Lenny, you might have been told this infinite times, but I'm gonna tell you one more time, you're probably unaware of the weight you had in so many lives and that's the magic of music. We don't know each other but, for sure, to me is like you're an old and precious friend. God bless you, hope to see you back in Italy very soon.
