Mary Jane
Pascal Obispo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Chapitre premier, le temps des baisers
Chansons d'amour, diamants blancs, coquillages

Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane
Qui es-tu Mary Jane
Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane

Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane
Qui es-tu Mary Jane
Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane
Où vas-tu Mary Jane

Mais où vas-tu Mary Jane?
Si c'est plus le temps ça n'en vaut pas la peine
Non plus la peine

Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane
Qui es-tu Mary Jane

Ouh Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane, Mary Jane
Où vas-tu Mary Jane

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Pascal Obispo's "Mary Jane" take us on a journey through the various stages of a woman's life. In the first chapter, we see Mary Jane in the midst of youthful love and happiness, surrounded by songs of love and other symbols of beauty and joy. However, as we move into later chapters, we see danger and uncertainty enter into Mary Jane's life. Bad weather and passing birds become ominous signs of trouble on the horizon.

The chorus of the song is a repeated questioning of Mary Jane's identity and whereabouts, suggesting that she's become something of a mystery. The verses continue with the theme of uncertainty and change, as Mary Jane is forced to tear out pages and move on from her past. We see references to drug use, regret, and the passing of time. The final lines suggest that Mary Jane may be moving on from her former life, and that it may not be worth clinging to anymore.

Overall, the lyrics paint a portrait of a woman in transition, moving through different stages of her life with all of the joy, pain, and uncertainty that comes with it.

Aw, your "If I Missed Your Skin" video is blocked in my country and I can't view it! That was my favorite video of yours that you uploaded a while back but then had to take it down. Pascal Obispo is a great singer and him combined with you, a mermaaaiiid! I just thought it was such a sweet and romantic video. Grr! Wish I could see it again! This one is very cute too though, I just like his other song better.
