Train Wreck
Passafire Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was away to see you my friend
Time is on hold, life's a ghost
Reeling it in, like the coast
If you could find time
Look inside see if you see what I saw
Maybe it all was a dream
Talking all the time tellin' me that you got plans but you got plans with
Me (x2)
And I see, what I see to be true, what I think is you
Because you sing like angel, and you lie like one too
You can say that you're sorry, but I'm afraid that won't do
Stop and take a break from the mirror
Cause if it should break, 7 years of bad luck
Oh what did you expect, a train wreck?
Because you sing like an angel, and you lie like one too, you can say that
You're sorry, but I'm afraid that won't do (x2)
The song "Train Wreck" by Passafire is a clear depiction of the emotional turmoil that one goes through when in a toxic relationship. The opening lines of the song show the singer on his way to meet his lover, but he is aware that life is at a standstill and everything is like a ghost. The next line, "Reeling it in, like the coast," talks about how he is trying to hold on to whatever he can, but it's like catching sand slipping through his fingers. He is hopeful but anxious and unsure of what to expect.
The singer then goes on to speak about his lover, who talks about having plans but doesn't follow through with them. He is convinced that he is the only person in her life and can't do without him. However, he is not blind to her deceptions and lies. He sees through her facade of being an angel when she's really a liar. He is hurt but doesn't know what to do since she keeps saying sorry, but he knows it doesn't mean anything.
The singer then tries to warn his lover to stop looking at herself in the mirror because if she breaks it, that leads to seven years of bad luck. He then rhetorically asks what she expected with their relationship after living a lie like an angel. The phrase 'train wreck' is used as a metaphorical reference to their relationship, which is bound to fail because of her lies and deception.

Ted is the best vocalist for their genre(s) hands down, and one of the best in music period. Sick basslines, perfect flow, all great musicians, flexible styles.... I can't get over this band.. Come back to Central FLA!!!!

@OUNCEOFWEED same here but after a few listens its my favoritge better then submersable and everyone on every night. It has a lot of really heavy themes hidden in subtle lyrics. Bowne's lyrical prowess is unmatched in the genre
