come as you are
Passion [feat. Crowder] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come out of sadness
From wherever you've been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There's hope for the hopeless
And all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't cure

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
Lay down your hurt lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are
There's joy for the morning
Oh sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are

Come as you are
Come as you are

Overall Meaning

Passion's song Come As You Are is a call to all people, regardless of their background, to come to God and receive His love and mercy. The song encourages listeners to leave behind sadness, brokenness, and shame and instead find rest and healing in God's arms. It reassures listeners that no matter where they come from, they can find a home with God, and that there is always hope for those who have strayed away from Him.

The repetition of the phrase "lay down your burdens" and "lay down your shame" emphasizes the idea that we don't have to carry our burdens alone; we can give them to God and find peace. The lyrics also remind us that no matter how far we may have strayed from God, we're not too far away to come back to Him. The song's chorus, "Come as you are," invites people to approach God just as they are, without any pretense or facade, and receive His love.

Overall, Come As You Are is a deeply comforting and encouraging song that reminds us of God's unconditional love and the hope we can find in Him. It's a reminder that no matter how broken we may feel or how far we may have strayed from Him, we are always welcome to come back to His embrace.

I too rebelled against God. Just hated everything in my life and put all the blame on God. This is His invitation to come home.

Just heard Crowder sing this song at the Grand Ole Opry this past Saturday.  Ricky Skaggs was moved by it and prophesized over Crowder.  Called the music "harvest music"  Yall, there is so much joy and freedom in Jesus.   Just come as you are, no matter how far gone or how bad off you think you are, please know that you dont have to fix yourself to come to Jesus, He wants you right now just as you are, leave the rest to Him.  He told death "no" he surely can say "yes" to you if you will just come to Him.  Praying hard for everybody.  I love yall and I want yall to be apart of my eternal family.  God bless!

You do realize it's just an idea right? It's not real. We're animals that have developed over millions of years on a lush water planet flying through space for no reason other than it's possible. There might be something, but very certainly all human-created religion like "Jesus" is pure and utter nonsense. But whatever makes you not slit your wrist. I choose to believe if there's anything, it's a Programmer who created a massive algorithm that cannot be intervened with once began based on Their own protocols. Maybe then we can explain malnourished African babies with AIDs, Uvalde, Nazis, Ukraine, leveled towns by tornadoes and hurricanes, etc. etc. . This Programmer is either a giant dick or NOT omnipotent at all. The proof there is no god is around us always. The proof for a god is nowhere. It also hurts the cause that the Aramaic interpretation of the word "sun" has been the culprit for the "Big Fish Story" of a "son". That's the root of the Jesus fairytale. Not that you will care or look into it. Use whatever mental health tools you can, but it's the same thing a child who makes up an imaginary friend does. Literally.

Im a young, fairly newborn Christian. Baptised a little less then 2 years ago in michigan, moved back to indiana and have slowly gotten more and more lost, my faith always there just hidden, i got to a point that i lost all hope i started to think about commiting suicide everyday ending it all (long time sufferer of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, and PTSD. currently taking several medications, as well as meeting with a psychiatrist every 3 months.), but even with all of that life has managed to tear me to shreds once again. I dont know what started it, i believe i was on youtube and just happened to come across one of lauren daigles songs How Can It Be which led me to this song, and both reminded me that no matter how far i stray from Gods path, no matter how hard life and the devil tries to push him away, i can ALWAYS return, simply because he never left me. he has been here the whole time trying to reach out to me and i pushed him away i ran from him from faith and hope and love for my savior, until i listened to a couple songs on youtube and now ive dug out my beloved bibles and my daily devotionals and ive even downloaded a bible app thats not just a bible but also helps to put you back on Gods path.
