López, also known as "El Indio Pastor" (Pastor, The Indian), started out singing the Joropo musical style in a group with his brothers, but didn't gain more widespread notoriety until joining forces with fellow musician Nelson Henríquez. After two years performing in Nelson Henriquez's group (1972-1973) he decided to branch off and form his own: "Pastor López y su Combo." Many of the cumbias he has recorded are interpretations of works associated with "Peruvian cumbia", including "Cariñito sin mi", "Bonita y Mentirosa", and "Traicionera" among others. The success of his more than 30 year musical career has not been limited to his two nations of residence, Venezuela and Colombia, but spans the United States, Canada, Spain, the UK, and other countries with significant Colombian and Latino populations. He was one of the foremost recording stars for the dominantly cumbia record label Discos Fuentes.
The singer died on April 5, 2019, at the age of 74 years, at the North Clinic in the city of Cucuta, Colombia, after having suffered a stroke.

Yo he vuelto a amarte y a recordarte
Pero yo no puedo ahora olvidarte
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Yo he vuelto a amarte y a recordarte
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Yo he vuelto a amarte y a recordarte
Pero yo no puedo ahora olvidarte
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
Oye traicionera aunque yo me muera
In Pastor López's song "Traicionera," the lyrics express the pain and heartbreak caused by a past relationship. The first verse speaks to the difficulty of trying to heal from the wounds inflicted by the person who betrayed the singer's trust. Despite trying to move on and forget, the singer cannot help but remember and love the traitorous ex-partner.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "oye traicionera aunque yo me muera" which translates to "listen, traitor, even if I die." The singer is pleading for the traitor to hear their pain and regret for how they were treated. The second verse reiterates the love and joy that the ex-partner brought into the singer's life, but now that love has turned into nighttime wandering and loneliness.
Overall, the song conveys the intense emotions of a failed relationship and the struggle to move on. The repeated pleading for the traitor to hear their regret highlights the pain caused by betrayal and the desire for closure.
