Green began his musical career when he was 18 and in college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. "I started playing guitar to pick up the chicks," Green laughs. "Before that, I only sang in the shower. I could mimic other people's voices. It took me a long time to find my own voice, but once I did, I became very comfortable with it. It's not real pretty but it's believable."
During those college years, Green started playing clubs and opening shows for other artists. In 1995, he put out his first independent record.
"I don't know exactly where it began, if it was Willie Nelson's picnic or one of Jerry Jeff's shows, but I got asked to play and there was a huge crowd there," Green says. "After that show, we started getting some radio support. All of a sudden, everything started happening at once. We were selling a ton of records. We were able sell out Billy Bob's. In Dallas-Fort Worth, we were selling 4, 5, 6000 seats. In Houston and everywhere else, it started being 1000, 2000 seats. It just started steamrolling. I think it was a combination of the popularity of Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker and Willie Nelson leading the forefront for us little guys. We just all fell in line behind them."
The result of that faith was Green's 2001 major-label debut, Three Days, on Republic/Universal. The album Wave On Wave followed in 2003, and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard country albums chart, and the title track cracked the Top 5 on the singles chart. He released Lucky Ones in 2004. In 2006, after a move to the RCA imprint BNA, he issued Cannonball.
Wrapped

Out on Mustang Island
Might stay up all night
Hangin' out with Hank Williams and cryin'
I slept out on the sand so many nights that I can't remember
Yeah but love is love and life is hard
And one undoes the other
Summer gold, Winter blue
Where ever I am whatever I do
Wrapped in you
Might find me in Paris France, Someday soon
Might drive this Malibu all the way to China
Never can tell what I'll do
I'm busted, shot clean through
Where ever I am whatever I do
Wrapped in you
Held you once through April
And in summer set you free
Now the cold, cold nights are coming
And I've lost everything
I've never been to Paris France
Never even seen Mustang Island
Ol' hank was gone before I was born
I'm not the kind to stay up cryin'
May never go far, but here's the truth
Where ever I am whatever I do
I'm busted, shot clean through
Whatever you want is what I'll do
I'm wrapped in you.
Wrapped in you
Wrapped in you
The lyrics of Pat Green's "Wrapped in You" emphasize how a person can feel fulfilled when they find happiness with someone. The lyrics are written from the singer's perspective, telling a story of how he can find happiness wherever he is when he is with his loved one, despite any trials and tribulations he may face.
The verse begins with a reference to Mustang Island, a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico, where the singer might stand out in the wind. Looking for excitement, he may stay up all night with Hank Williams's music, but ultimately, he finds his real happiness with his loved one.
The lyrics also suggest the singer has gone through difficult times, and the memory of his trials crashes in like the waves of the ocean. He has slept out on the sand so many nights that he can't recall, but he has found solace in love despite life's hardships.
The chorus emphasizes the idea of being wrapped in his loved one, no matter where he goes or what he does. From Paris to Mustang Island to China, the singer may be found anywhere, but no matter where life takes him, he finds comfort in his loved one.
Overall, "Wrapped in You" celebrates the power of love and how someone can find fulfillment and happiness through the journey of life with the person they love.
