Tu n'as jamais voulu de moi
Ce soir à nouveau je t'attends
Pour m'endormir dans tes bras
Toi que j'ai maudit si longtemps
De n'être pas venu plus tôt
Dans le ventre de ma maman
Pour réduire ma vie à zéro
Je t'ai prié comme l'espérance
Pour que s'arrête mon histoire
Et que je tire ma révérence
Ce soir nous avons rendez-vous
Je t'ai laissé la porte ouverte
Quand minuit sonnera ses douze coups
Je m'envolerai vers ta planète
Devant toi on est tous égaux
Devant toi on est tous pareils
Devant toi y'a plus d'égo
Quand sonne l'heure du grand sommeil
On est simplement beau
Simplement beau
Quand descendra le grand miroir
Celui qui réfléchit nos âmes
Je plongerai dans ton regard
Bien plus acéré qu'une lame
Et sur la rivière sans retour
Celle qui lmène peut-être au ciel
Je jetterai tout mon amour
Aux poissons et aux hirondelles
J'irai vers toi sans héritage
Car je ne laisse rien derrière moi
Que le souvenir d'un visage
Que j'ai porté comme une croix
Ce soir nous avons rendez-vous
Je t'ai laissé la porte ouverte
Quand minuit sonnera ses douze coups
Je m'envolerai vers ta planète
Devant toi on est tous égaux
Devant toi on est tous pareils
Devant toi y'a plus d'égo
Quand sonne l'heure du grand sommeil
On est simplement beau
Simplement beau
The lyrics to Patrick Fiori's song Simplement Beau tells the story of someone who has been waiting for the attention of another person. Throughout their life, the person has seen the other one often but has never been able to gain their affection. Despite this, the singer continues to wait for them, hoping to finally find comfort in their embrace. The lyrics also suggest that the singer has contemplated ending their life and prayed for the other person (a representation of death or a higher power) to end their story. However, they ultimately choose to live and wait for the person they long for.
The lyrics then transition to a more philosophical tone, suggesting that we are all equal in the eyes of death. When it's time for the "grand sommeil" (the ultimate sleep, death), all egos disappear and we are all simply beautiful. The singer contemplates diving into the "grand miroir" (the great mirror), possibly a metaphor for the afterlife or self-reflection, and facing the other person's gaze, which is sharper than any blade. The lyrics end with the singer leaving everything behind and going to the other person. They keep the door open and will fly to the other's planet at midnight.
Overall, the song is about longing and waiting for something or someone, contemplating life and death, and the idea that ego and material possessions do not matter in the end.
