Pas même grand chose à taire
Ou peut-être un genou
Mais ces histoires de rires
Puisqu'il n'y a rien à taire
Pas même pour rester debout
Alors je ne dis rien
Et ça me fait du bien
The lyrics of Patrick Fiori's song "Y'a plus grand chose à dire" convey a sense of resignation and acceptance of the present situation. The singer admits that there is nothing much to say or hide anymore, except perhaps some small pain that he feels deep down. Even though he has been through some difficult times and has shared many laughs with others, there is nothing left to do but stay still and wait.
The repetition of the phrase "Alors je ne dis rien" throughout the song emphasizes the singer's decision to remain silent and not make any more unnecessary effort. He acknowledges that even this decision to remain silent is a word too much, but it is still better than talking incessantly. The phrase "Il n'y a qu'à laisser le temps finir les murs d'usine sans façon ni manière" suggests that time will take care of everything eventually, even the ugly and uninspired walls of factories.
The lyrics also reference the idea of words being like barrels of foam that can be pushed up high without regard to their true meaning. The singer seems to suggest that words can be meaningless and that empty chatter will not change the situation. Overall, the song portrays a sense of weariness and a desire for peace and quiet.
