So Wrong
Patsy Cline Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been so wrong, for so long
Thought I could live without the love that you give
I was wrong, oh, so wrong

I've been so wrong, for so long
I didn't know that I loved you so
I was wrong
Well, I never knew I could want you darlin'
Oh, so much
Now that you're gone, I dream of you
And your sweet touch

I was so wrong, for so long
But I've seen the light and darlin' I'll make it right
I was wrong

Well, I never knew I could want you darlin'
Oh, so much
Now that you're gone, I dream of you
And your sweet touch

I was so wrong, for so long

But I've seen the light, darlin', I'll make it right
I was wrong

Overall Meaning

In Patsy Cline's song "So Wrong", the singer reflects on their past mistakes in a romantic relationship, where they thought they could live without the love from their partner. The singer admits that they were wrong for thinking they could go on without this love and didn't realize how much they truly loved their partner. They express regret for their past actions and acknowledge that they were in the dark. The singer then goes on to talk about how, now that their partner is gone, they dream of their touch and are realizing how much they truly wanted them. The song ends with the singer promising to "make it right" and admitting that they have "seen the light".

Overall, the song seems to be about coming to terms with one's past mistakes and taking accountability for the hurt caused to a loved one. The lyrics express an understanding of the importance of the love that the singer has lost and a willingness to rectify past wrongs.

"So Wrong" is also a good way to describe the creepy sparkling eyes effect on all these videos

Yeah, you’re right @rockdontrun. The earring one is okay, because certain earrings are known to sparkle. But not the eyes πŸ‘€!

I am 12 and this is one of my favorite Patsy Cline songs! I have this one on vinyl!

@thereareotherworlds

I still have the Decca single I bought when it came out in 1962. I was 9. Flip side is You're Stronger than Me. I played them so much I don't even have to actually listen to them anymore; I can play them in my head. But still, it's always a treat to go back and listen to the original, Mono recording.
