You Belong To Me
Patsy Cline Patsy Cline Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunrise on a tropic isle
Just remember darlin' all the while
You belong to me

See the market place in Old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me

I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too, and blue

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember 'til you're home again
You belong to me

(This portion, sung by background singers,
omitted in later release)
(I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too, and blue)

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember 'til you're home again
You belong to me

(Repeat last verse)

(Jim Reeves demo)

See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunset on a tropic isle
Just remember darlin' all the while
You belong to me

See the market place in Old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me

I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too, and blue

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember 'til I'm home again
You belong to me

(Repeat last two verses)

I'm gonna be so alone without you
And I'm hopin' maybe you'll be lonesome, too, and blue

This was my parents song at their wedding, shortly before my father went overseas. I had the great good fortune of the honor of taking care of my father when he had Alzheimer's. Many times when he was in the hospital, I was there with him. I would feed him oatmeal with extra butter and sugar. But I would sing this to him. He chimed in one time with, "Old Algiers" even though in a coma. Sorry, I know I don't make sense. But I'm so glad I was there for his passing.

I know this was Jo Stafford's signature song. She does a beautiful job. Then I hear Patsy Cline. Wow. She was beyond fabulous.

What do you admire most about Patsy

@junelongoria5833

I love her natural inflections when she sings. She also has a clarity to her voice that is rich and heartwarming. Her rendition of Always is the best I've heard. Unfortunately, she passed away too soon. What would she have accomplished had she lived?

@MarcosBryant-lj8zi

@@junelongoria5833 yeah she was taken too soon,so what’s your favorite Patsy song
