In 1974 and 1975, she recorded for Avco Records, and, in 1981, recorded for Plantation Records, her most recent record label. Page's most recent single to appear on any Billboard chart was the 1982 #80 country single, "My Man Friday". (She last appeared on the pop chart in 1968, with her version of O.C. Smith's hit, "Little Green Apples", and on the Adult Contemporary chart with "Give Him Love" in 1971.)
Page made the country chart in up to 1983, with her biggest hit during that time being "Hello, We're Lonely," a 1973 #14 duet with Tom T. Hall.
In the 1990s, Page started her own label, C.A.F. Records. In 1998, she won a Grammy as "Best Traditional Pop Singer". Page continued to record into the new millenium with the CDs BRAND NEW TENNESSEE WALTZ, SWEET SOUNDS OF CHRISTMAS (2002), CHILD OF MINE (2003) and her last 2009 release BEST OF COUNTRY. Many of her songs have a strong beat to them that prelude rock 'n' roll. These titles include "Mister and Mississippi", "Detour" and "Cross Over the Bridge". In 1956, she married choreographer Charles O'Curran. They adopted two children, a daughter, Kathleen, and a son, Daniel O'Curran.
Darn That Dream
Patti Page Lyrics

You say you love me and you hold me tight
But when I awake, you're out of sight
Oh, darn that dream
Darn your lips and darn your eyes
They lift me high above the moonlit skies
Then I tumble out of paradise
Darn that one track mind of mine
It can't understand that you don't care
Just to change the mood I'm in
I'd welcome a nice old nightmare
Darn that dream and bless it too
Without that dream I never would have you
But it haunts me and it won't come true
Oh, darn that dream
Darn that dream and bless it too
Without that dream I never would have you
But it haunts me and it won't come true
Oh, darn that dream
Darn that dream, that dream, that dream
That wonderful dream
In Patti Page’s song “Darn That Dream,” the singer laments about a dream that she has each night about being loved and held by someone. She is content in the dream, but when she wakes up, she is alone and sobered by reality. She is frustrated with her mind for creating these illusions, and wishes she could shake them off. The lyrics are concise, but convey a deep sense of longing and disappointment.
The song deals with a common human experience — dreaming about a perfect love or idealized situation, only to have reality undercut it. The repeated line of “darn that dream” emphasizes the singer’s frustration with her own mind for creating such a vivid fantasy. She is aware that the dream is not real, but is still deeply affected by it. The singer also acknowledges that without the dream, she might not have the love that she has in reality, but still finds it hard to reconcile with the gap between the dream and reality.
Overall, “Darn That Dream” is a poignant song that captures the experience of hope and disappointment that many people feel about love. It acknowledges the power of the mind to create powerful fantasies, but also the limitations of those fantasies in the face of reality.
