RAINDROPS KEEP FALLIN' ON MY HEAD
Patti Page Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'

Because I'm free
Nothin's worryin' me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Patti Page’s song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” depict someone experiencing a series of unfortunate events. Raindrops keep falling on his head, and he feels like nothing in his life fits together correctly. However, instead of letting this get to him, he talks to the sun and tells it that he doesn’t appreciate the way it’s handling things. Despite the blues that come along with the rain, he knows that they won’t defeat him because happiness will eventually come along and replace his sorrow.

The character in the song is resilient and doesn’t let the rain bring him down. He understands that crying won’t solve anything, and he’s determined to live his life without any worries. Even though raindrops keeping fallin’ on his head, he’ll always be free and nothing can weigh him down.
