She became famous still very young as "the Piper girl", from the name of a fashion music club in Rome where she used to sing in the '60 years. She has experimented every kind of music over the 40 years of her career, from early pop songs to electronic, chinese music and rock; her masterpiece is the record "Oltre l'Eden...", published in 1989 and reprinted on CD again in 2006.
Tripoli '69
Patty Pravo Lyrics

io non mi accorgo che
che fuori e' inverno ormai
la stanza e' tanto calda
non penso mai
che oltre la finestra
per lui
in quella nebbia
che porta il caldo
caldo caldo caldo
caldo caldo
lo vedo ma non e'
e' andato via da me
sta raggiungendo
tripoli
ma tripoli cos'e'
e' il primo nome che
mi viene in mente te
lo immagino lontano
dove non so
in cerca di battaglie
perche'
perche' ogni uomo
e' fra battaglie
non puo' pentirsi
un uomo un uomo
un uomo un uomo
un uomo
e quando un uomo va
a vivere di piu'
le donne
son solo lacrime
ma se ritornera'
ferito lui lo sa
che qui' mi trovera'
e io son gia' felice
se penso che
in questa storia
anch'io ci saro'
ma fuori e' inverno
la nebbia e' nebbia
in questa stanza
ritorna un caldo
un caldo un caldo
un caldo
in casa io e lui
e non si e' accorto che
ho pianto tanto
tripoli
These lyrics are from Patty Pravo's song "Tripoli '69" and describe the feelings of a woman who is left behind by her lover. The song begins with her being inside with her lover, oblivious to the fact that it is winter outside. The room is warm, and she never thinks beyond the window. The mist outside reminds her of another summer, a summer that brings the heat, the same heat her lover is seeking in Tripoli. She can see him moving away from her but cannot stop him. She thinks of Tripoli as the first name that comes to mind, a faraway place full of battles and turmoil, a place where every man must go to live their life fully. This leaves women alone, crying.
The singer is both sad and happy. She is sad because her lover is gone, and she had cried a lot in his absence. But despite that, she is happy because she knows that she will be there for him when he comes back. Her lover is in Tripoli, but she doesn't know where that is, except that it is a faraway place. The song ends with the mist outside turning into fog, and the room becoming hot again.
