Un Gran Riu De Fang

Si pogués triar un poder,
fent cas a l'inconscient,
diria que ho tinc clar:
voldria parar el temps
i que tot es quedés
no és que tot sigui clar
ni que em vagi tan be,
però malauradament
m'ensumo el que vindrà:
Potser ja no ens veurem
i alguns ja no hi seran.
Tots ens haurem fet grans
i molts hauran canviat.
I els llocs on ara anem
molts d'ells hauran tancat
o potser el món sencer
serà un gran riu de fang.
Si pogués triar un poder,
fent cas a l'inconscient,
diria que ho tinc clar:
voldria parar el temps.
The song "Un Gran Riu De Fang" by Pau Vallvé explores the concept of time and the desire to pause it in order to maintain the present moment. The lyrics suggest that if the opportunity to possess a supernatural power were presented, the singer would choose to stop time.
The songwriter acknowledges that not everything is clear or going well in their life, but unfortunately, they can anticipate what the future holds. This anticipation is described metaphorically as "m'ensumo el que vindrà" (I can smell what will come). There is a sense of uncertainty and a recognition that change is inevitable.
The lyrics then shift to the potential consequences of time moving forward. The singer reflects on the possibility that they may no longer encounter certain people or places in the future. Describing the passage of time, the lyrics state that everyone will have grown older, and many will have changed. Places that the singer currently frequents may have closed down, or worse, the entire world may become a "gran riu de fang" (a big river of mud).
In the final refrain, the songwriter reiterates the desire to possess the power to stop time. It reinforces the longing to keep everything in the present and avoid the uncertainties and potential negative outcomes that the future might hold. The lyrics capture a universal sentiment, highlighting the human inclination to cling to familiar and stable moments in the face of the inevitable passage of time.

I would want to stop time
i que tot es quedés
and that everything remained
per sempre en el present
forever in the present
no és que tot sigui clar

m'ensumo el que vindrà:
I can sense what will come:
Potser ja no ens veurem
Perhaps we won't see each other anymore
i alguns ja no hi seran.
and some won't be here anymore.
Tots ens haurem fet grans
We will all have grown up
i molts hauran canviat.
and many will have changed.
I els llocs on ara anem
And the places we go to now
molts d'ells hauran tancat
many of them will have closed down

or maybe the whole world
serà un gran riu de fang.
will be a great river of mud.
