Sir James Paul McCartney, MBE (born 18 June 1942 - Liverpool, England) is a British singer, musician and songwriter, who first came to prominence as a member of The Beatles. Linda McCartney established herself as a professional photographer in the rock and roll scene, and met her second husband, Paul McCartney, while photographing groups for a book titled Rock and Other Four Letter Words in 1967. They met at a night club called the Bag o' Nails in May of 1967 and married in 1969. After the breakup of the The Beatles in 1970, Paul began teaching Linda to play keyboards, and included her in the lineup for his new band, Wings. Although Linda was shunned by music critics for her amateur singing and playing skills, Wings garnered several Grammy Awards for their music, and became one of the most successful bands of the 1970s.
The Back Seat Of My Car

But listen to her daddy's song, don't stay out to long
Were just busy hidin', sitting the back seat of my car
(Looking for a ride and all about)
(Looking for a ride in and out of town)
(Strolling around and all about)
(Looking for a ride in and out of)
We may end up in Mexico city
But listen to her daddy's song
Making love is wrong
Ooh, we're just busy riding
Sitting in the back seat of my car
Oh oh, Oh oh
Oh oh, Oh oh
Oh oh, Oh oh
Oh oh, Oh oh
Oh oh, Oh oh
For we was only hiding
Sitting in the back seat of my car, yeah
And when we finished driving
We can say we were late in arriving
And listen to her daddy's song
We believe that we can't be wrong, yeah
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
We can make it to Mexico city
Sitting in the back seat of my car, oh oh
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
Oh oh, we believe that we can't be wrong
No, no, no
We believe we can't be wrong
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh oh, oh oh, yeah, oh, yeah
The song “Back Seat of My Car” by Paul and Linda McCartney narrates a love story in which two people are deeply in love but must hide their love from society. The two lovers are speeding along the highway seeking a place to hide and be themselves without fear of judgment. They talk about listening to “her daddy’s song,” indicating authority figures trying to control their lives by instilling values contrary to their own. Despite society's condemnation of their love, the couple believes they “…can make it to Mexico city/sitting in the back seat of my car…” and that they “…believe that [they] can’t be wrong…” They continue to assert their belief that their love is true, and they must be together.
The song suggests a young couple resisting societal norms and rebelling against authority, going against traditional values, and declaring their love. The song's chorus emphasizes their self-belief, confidence in their love, and their ability to overcome societal and family pressures. Attempting to find freedom from constraints or conformities, they drive down the highway, listening to the radio, looking for a place or a moment alone. Ultimately, they find themselves in the back seat of their car, away from the world, and free to express their love without fear or consequence.
