Come Back
Paul & Ritchie & The Cryin' Shames Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
While we're reaching for our destiny
Are we bright just the little stars?
Falling into each other's hearts oh
One thing I can't take away from you
You give me room even though it's hard to move
But then I thought I could fall in back to you
I always come back to
You always come back to me
I always come back to
You always come back to me
Are we ever really gonna be
While we're reaching for our destiny
Are we bright just the little stars
Falling into each other's hearts oh
One thing I can say that's so true
You give me all I need that I feel brand new
But then I thought I could fall in back to you
Reason is our love is so true
I always come back to
You always come back to me
The lyrics of "Come On Back" by Paul & Ritchie & The Cryin' Shames explore the theme of a tumultuous relationship that is plagued by uncertainty and doubt. The opening line, "Are we ever really gonna be?", sets the tone for the rest of the song. It suggests that the singer is unsure about the future of their relationship despite their attempts to make it work. The following line, "While we're reaching for our destiny", implies that they are both striving for greatness but struggling to do so as a couple.
The chorus of the song, "I always come back to you, you always come back to me", provides a glimmer of hope that despite their misgivings, the singer and their partner are destined to be together. However, this hope is short-lived as the verses once again delve into the uncertainty of their relationship. The line, "You give me room even though it's hard to move", suggests that the other person is supportive but not necessarily encouraging. They may be holding the singer back from reaching their full potential. Despite this, the singer acknowledges that they still feel a strong connection to their partner, stating "Reason is our love is so true".
Overall, the lyrics of "Come On Back" portray a complex relationship that is marked by both love and doubt. The singer is torn between their desire to succeed and their love for their partner, and they are unsure if the two can coexist.

Just had to add to the comment on this track . I WAS THE LEAD GUITARIST PLAYING ON THIS RECORD and RICHIE PLAYED THE OPENING VIBRATO GUITAR I PLAYED THE MUFFLED GUITAR RIFFS Derek ex member Cryin Shames. By the way , Hi Richie
@HeeneStudios
That muffle lead guitar makes the song in my opinion, incredible job. Hats off to you man

Hi Derek - first of all much respect to you for playing on one of the the truly great (albeit maybe not as well known) tracks of the 1960s. 'Come On Back' is up there with something like, say, 'Louie Louie' by The Kingsmen in that you just can't fault it (and it's got a great groove to it!) A lot has been written, even films made, about Joe Meek - what were your impressions of him?
@mrderekcleary
Thanks so much, Iv'e had so many people write it's Richie Blackmore and others. I hated what Joe done with the tone because everything Then was about treble sounds and to make it dull did not seem right BUT i did not argue or else!!!
