Remember Me
Paul Byrom Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The campfire glows in the autumn breeze, and I am
lost in my thoughts of you.
Remember me, recuerde me.
A comrade strums on sad guitar.
My mind is drifting to where you are
I'm holding you as I used to do
So long ago, so far away, each night I pray
"volvero los dias passados"
I promise you that come what may
those days will stay ever in my memory
In all this world I could never find, the love that I had to leave behind.
But duty calls, so whate'er befalls
Remember me, recuerde me, mi amor.
God only knows what tomorrow brings
You're in my heart so my spirit sings
and I'll be strong just as long as you remember me, recuerde me, mi amor.
The lyrics of Paul Byrom's song "Remember Me" uses nature, music, and memories to evoke a sense of longing and love for someone far away. The first stanza describes a serene autumn evening with moonlight and a campfire, where the singer is lost in thought about the person they miss. The second stanza introduces a comrade playing a sad guitar, which makes the singer think even more about their love. They long to be reunited and ask to be remembered, both in English and Spanish, which emphasizes the depth of their feelings.
The chorus expresses the singer's desire for their memories to endure as they navigate the uncertainty of the future. They reminisce about happy days of the past and vow to hold onto those memories no matter what. The final stanza acknowledges the challenges facing their relationship, but also the importance of keeping their love alive no matter what happens.
