Anybody can make a mistake
I overdid it and I can't complain
If someone's taken my place
It ain't the first time, it won't be the last
That I find my life in dissaray
No use regretting, it's all in the past
So tell me what can I say
When you know that I can do nothin' right
I don't know that talkin' it over will change,
The way I'm feeling tonight
I used to wake up, jump out of my bed
With a great big smile on my face
I was the business, no one could deny
Now I've fallen from grace
I just need a chance to forget about it
Do you really care who was wrong or right
I don't know that talkin it over will change
The way I'm feeling tonight
So if you want your freedom, I won't stand in your way
Cos I've got my pride, and I won't beg you to stay
Maybe one day I will write a book about it
I'll put everything down in black and white
I don't know that talkin it over will change
The way I'm feeling tonight
In Paul Carrack's song, "The Way I'm Feeling Tonight," the singer admits to his mistakes and takes responsibility for his actions. He overdid something, and now he feels like he's lost someone or something important to him. He acknowledges that this isn't the first time he's felt like his life is in disarray, but he doesn't see the point in regretting the past. He's hurting, and he knows that talking about it won't change the way he feels.
The chorus of the song reinforces this feeling of hopelessness. The singer used to be happy and successful, but now he feels like he's "fallen from grace." He just wants to forget about what happened, but he also knows that he can't change the way he's feeling tonight. He's lost his confidence and his ability to take pride in himself, and he's not sure if he'll ever get it back.
Overall, the song captures a sense of resignation and sadness. The singer knows that he's messed up, but he doesn't see a way to fix things. He's lost someone or something important to him, and all he can do is try to move on.
