A Foggy Day
Paul Desmond Lyrics

I was a stranger in the city
Out of town were the people I knew
I had that feeling of self-pity
What to do, what to do, what to do
The outlook was decidedly blue

But as I walked through the foggy streets alone
It turned out to be the luckiest day I've known

A foggy day, in London town
Had me low, had me down
I viewed the morning, with much alarm
British Museum, had lost its charm

How long I wondered,
Could this thing last
But the age of miracles, hadn't past
For suddenly, I saw you there
And through foggy London town,
The sun was shining everywhere

For suddenly, I saw you there
And through foggy London town,
The sun was shining everywhere

Everywhere
Everywhere
Everywhere

Thanks.

@lesterwyoung

I have this on CD with no indication as to who is playing the bassoon. Any clues?

@lesterwyoung

+Joe Carbery Just saw this comment on a blog where I found the above video: "Some of the Brubeck Quartet's earliest recordings feature bassist Fred
Dutton, who occasionally doubled on bassoon. Dutton went on to play
bassoon and contra in the LA Philharmonic." I have this track and "Crazy Chris" (which has a melody line like "Christopher Columbus") on CD. When the bassoon is playing the bass is not to be heard, so this fits in with Dutton being the bassoonist.

@lydianbfive

Most likely Paul Desmond. He was very understated and versatile

@RavenYan

I thought it was a bowed double bass

@lesterwyoung

Thanks (belatedly!)
