It's kinda hilarious if you think about how up-beat and mellow this song is, and yet when I was young and watching Digimon for the first time, this song was one of the most memorable ass-kicking songs in the series. As soon as it started playing, you KNEW the villains were about to get obliterated. On paper, there should've been no way in hell that this happy pleasant song would work for those intense and epic finishing moments, and yet it did wonderfully. And looking back, I'm glad they used it because I utterly love this song.

I've seen multiple videos in the past few years complaining about this. But I think loving it comes from growing up with the anime.
The mellow/up beat jam kicking in when it's time to kick ass really reinforces that idea of friendship. Personally I think it fits and always got pumped when it came on in the show

So I rewatched the first series and I have to say, while the “Hey Digimon Hey Digimon” during the fights was cool and all, my favorite part was the last episode where when they were leaving on the tram the rest of this song started playing explaining their adventures. It brought me to tears.

Agreed. Myotismon with his henchman also exposed the Digimon to the Humans on Earth during his invasion on Earth to find Kari. Very difficult to call it a hoax when the entire planet sees the digital world upside down in the sky.

Mega version of Myotismon was such a let down. Just looked too goofy. Original sinister vampire Myotismon was the best.

I know that. I own the third and fourth season on DVD but it doesn't change the fact that they did away with the cool "bad guy gets his ass kicked" soundtrack in the second season and especially afterwards.

I love this show, this and pokemon I grew up on and I can recite alot of the songs by heart. Best part in high school we were talking bout our fav shows and I started singing this song and 10 others joined in with me. We looked stupid in a class of 25 but we didn't care!

That was the only problem I ever had with it :P It's a nice song...but it really spoiled the mood some of the times it played, either because it was a tragedy scene, or because it was a scene that should have had more epic music accompanying it.

Having been recently rewatching the series, they seem to only put it once they were guaranteed to win, and at the end of the season when they were saying goodbye. When it came to battles that they may have lost or were guaranteed to lose (eg, against Devimon, most, if not all, of the fight against Piedmon, their fights against Puppetmon and Metalseadramon until just around the finishing blow, etc.), this song didn't play...

I distinctly remember when it was actually on TV, and one episode in particular: The one where Wizardmon dies, and Gatomon digivolves to Angewomon and shoots Myotismon. The instant this song started up I knew exactly what was going to happen, and next thing I was standing on the living room coffee table yelling "GET HIM GET HIM GET HIM!"

T^T Brings back so many memories. I first rejected this show because I thought it was a pokemon rip off. ULTIMATE FAIL on my part. Once I saw it wasn't, I was completely hooked. Haha.... my life almost revolved around the first season of digimon back when it came out.... never missed an episode.

digimon season1 was the best thing in the whole world and still is.i still remember when i was a kid watching the last episode of season1 and when this song hit at the end of the episode...made me cry...DIGIMON FTW!!!
