There's little biographical information available on David Keeley except for the following: Music was his first love, and he started singing as a child. He eventually moved out to Vancouver and started playing in bands in that city, and via that, got into theater. It wasn't until he hooked up with Paul Gross that he got back into the music. He can be seen in episodic TV such as Due South, FX: The Series and television movies such as the Michael Sloan production Earthquake!.

or maybe baby, just the way you walk
has shaken all the leaves out of the trees
Something in the way you smile
teeth and lips and hair run wild, yeah
surely this has brought me to my knees
Oh Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
And I don't know which way to turn
Which way to go
Chorus:
What did you do to me?
(did you do) did you do a little seance
(did you do) a black cat romance
(did you do) did you do a little sun dance
(did you do) did you do some voodoo baby (x2)
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
I said hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Feels like a winds a blowin'
looks like a hurricanes comin'
and it's coming from the centre of your eyes
these eyes are deepest blue
these eyes that are so true
you got the eyes to make me cry
Oh Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
yes Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
and all I know is I don't know what I know
Chorus
Hush now darlin'
I don't plan to cry
I said hush now baby
That ain't my style
Look at you, God knows I do
I put it down to a thing called voodoo
I put it down to the curse of love
I put it down to fate, hey
(chorus repeat to fade)
The lyrics of "Voodoo" by Paul Gross and David Keeley describe the overwhelming effect that a person, likely a love interest, has on the singer. The first verse acknowledges the way this person's mannerisms and appearance affect the singer, bringing them to their knees. The chorus poses the question of whether or not this person has cast some sort of spell or engaged in a supernatural ritual to make the singer feel this way. The second verse describes the intensity of the person's gaze and the power of their eyes, causing the singer to feel emotional. The lyrics suggest that the singer is perplexed by their feelings and does not know what to do.
The song's title, "Voodoo," refers to a belief system that originated in West Africa and is characterized by the practice of magic and the worship of ancestors and spirits. In the context of the song, the term could be interpreted both literally or figuratively. The lyrics of the song suggest that the singer feels as though they have been placed under some sort of unknowable spell, as if the person they are writing about has cast a voodoo curse on them.
