At the age of 9 a friend from school turned Kodi onto KISS(Rock'N'Roll Over). He immediately began aggrevating his mother (and anyone else who would listen) to get him a guitar. After listening to his plees until she could stand no more she finally gave in and got him a steel-string folk guitar (not much of a guitar, but ya gotta start somewhere).

For a while it was KISS and no-one else that guided Kodi's musical direction, but slowly he began listen to others (most notably, Pat Benatar and Aerosmith) and began to incorporate them into his style as well. Early in Jr. High School, Kodi joined his first band, a group of much older guys who's singer was a fall-down drunk, playing KISS and Aerosmith covers.

At 14 he had finally had enough of the cover band thing, and Influenced by the Glam bands of LA, began writing his own stuff. And through good and bad he's still going at it.

Paul Hibbert It must be me that's the issue then lol! I started with a Pebble watch a few years ago, and the battery drained in about 2 hours. Thinking it was due to the watch being cheap (though not really 😉), I picked up the LG Urbane about a year ago. I limited myself to only 1 custom watch face, and if I'm lucky I get about 2.5 hours from it.

I don't even wear it anymore, as if I even attempt to use any of its functions it will be a paperweight long before I get home to charge it.

+Len Mulaski Haha, thanks mate. I have a Samsung gear which actually survives pretty well. I haven't tried it with Voxwav for a while though so couldn't tell you what the battery life is like when being used as a mic. Its very knight rider, you press a button to make it listen so it shouldn't drain the battery really.

Paul Hibbert if I can offer some advice to YOU for a change 😊: from personal experience, the battery on my LG watch drops at an alarming rate, so I can only imagine what would happen if I used it as a microphone too lol!

+Len Mulaski Yeah, it works great. Not used it recently, but it has an android watch version that looks awesome and I was planning on having a crack with it soon.

Not sure if it still requires the press of a button on the app to get it to start listening.

I have a USB extension cable run under the carpet to behind the sofa. That's still the best solution if you have the time and the wife's permission ;)

Paul Hibbert I have multiple USB cables that I use to charge our various devices, but none are connected to the htpc. I was hoping for a wireless microphone solution, and I happened across the voxwav app in the play store. Have you had any experience with it?

Hey man, you can can control an Android box too. Just need to use the IP of the Android box instead :)

this is great. plus there is some healthy competition among different audiophile distros, so the first to comply could be the one to have a fully voice controlled audiophile system. I will nag a couple of them to see how this goes.

Hey man, just to let you know I tweeted them to ask if we could control Moode via HTTP. They responded to say you can control volume only. If you could convince them to open that up to more stuff then you could control Moode with Alexa via IFTTT :)

vittorio maier interesting! Most of my audio isnt up to scratch to warrant it, but I mix my own music and it would be useful to listen to the mixes in the living room at full quality when I'm testing them away from the studio. :)

I wonder if Yonomi or IFTTT can control any of them, if they can then I know how we could do it.

well, if you are into audiophile music playback (i.e. high def flac and similar audio files) they are great and run smoothly on a raspberry pi with a dac of your choice (i2s or usb). My favorite is http://moodeaudio.org/. There are plenty of app to control the music from android or ios, but no voice control at all. hence my question.

vittorio maier not with Alexa. I used Vox commando and Eventghost to control an Internet radio app, and I've used box commando to control lots of applications in the past, but I'm not familiar with any of the ones you listed.

+Muratagh Silie hey man, if there is a Spotify plugin for Kodi then you could call the Spotify plugin, but you wouldn't be able to ask Kodi to play a sing on Spotify sadly.

... But then I guess you would just use Alexa directly to ask her to play something on Spotify.

It was a pain in the ass, but I got it working with SALTS and trakt.tv. I want to figure out a way to get it to launch exodus next.

Thanks Paul. I'm still deciding between the Google Home and Echo, otherwise I would give it a whirl for my HTPC.
I haven't seen a video on Youtube with Alexa (or Google Home) starting Exodus or Salts streams yet. Let me know if you end up making a video of it as I'm sure there's others interested.

when i ask alexa to play a movie/video i get a playback error however when i manually select a movei/video it works, but the weird thing is when i then ask alexa to pause/unpause the video it works

john tierney if they're Kodi plugins you can call them by saying "Execute" followed by the plugin name. In my demo I do it with YouTube.

Assuming you're talking about Kodi plugins then I think it'll work the way you want :)

IV never tried kodi either ,know people who have put it on Amazon fire sticks ,Plex is good for watching your own movies ,videos,& photos from you PC , you can add apps called .bundles like Ice films & want to watch this to stream tv/movies . my daughter who lives 200 miles away streams movies on my PC to her Samsung tv,
