Paul was born in Vancouver, Canada. He left home when he was 13 years old, and began playing in bars before he was 18. He recorded a demo that got the attention of Canadian VJ Terry David Mulligan, and Laine was promptly signed to a management and then a major label deal.
Laine then formed a band to record and perform his compositions. In 1990, he released his debut album called "Stick It In Your Ear". Laine has also recorded backing vocals for Scorpions.
However in 1993 the members of Danger Danger came across Laine's debut album. They liked his voice and offered him the lead vocalist spot in their band. He recorded 5 albums with the band during this period. He finally left the band in 2005 to work with his own band, Shugaazer.
Is it love

I've been lookin' for love
This feelin' in my heart's too strong
Won't you tell me
I've given you everything
I gave you my heart
I gave you all you were asking for
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
I hear you callin'
Callin' out my name
It seems like I'm dreamin'
But when I wake up it's always the same
And I can't live my life in broken dreams
I lived that way too long
I poured my heart out to closing doors
Won't you tell me
Won't you tell me
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
Is it love you're after?
And there were times in this heartless world
You were always in my heart, girl
Now you got me beggin' on my knees
My heart is inside your hands
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
Is it love you're after?
(Is it love you're after?)
Is it love
(Is it love you're after?)
(Is it love you're after?)
Yeah
(Is it love you're after?)
(Is it love you're after?)
The lyrics of Paul Laine's song "Is It Love" suggest that the singer has been searching for love for a long time but has not been able to find it. The singer has given a considerable amount to someone, but is unsure if they are reciprocating the same feelings. The feeling in his heart is too strong to be ignored, and he wants to know if the person he has given his heart to is after love or something else.
The lines "And I can't live my life in broken dreams, I lived that way too long, I poured my heart out to closing doors" suggest that the singer has had previous experiences where his love was not appreciated, and he does not want to go through the same thing again. The chorus "Is it love you're after?" is repeated several times, emphasizing the importance of the question. The singer's heart is in the hands of the person he is addressing, and he is begging for an answer.
Overall, the song's lyrics suggest frustration and confusion with a situation of unrequited love. The singer has given everything to someone but is unsure if that person wants the same thing. The chorus's repetition adds to the feeling of uncertainty, and the song's ending leaves the question unanswered.

Paul is such a talented dude. Deserves wayyyy more recognition. Always figured if he'd fronted a band vs solo might have garnered more fame.
