I've Got A Feeling
Paul McCartney/John Lennon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got a feeling, a feeling deep inside
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's right
I've got a feeling, a feeling I can't hide
No no no, oh no, oh no
Yeah yeah I've got a feeling yeah

Oh please believe me, I'd hate to miss the train
Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah
And if you leave me I won't be late again
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Yeah yeah I've got a feeling yeah
I've got a feeling

All these years I've been wandering around
Wondering how come nobody told me
All that I was looking for was somebody
Who looked like you

I've got a feeling, that keeps me on my toes
Oh yeah, oh yeah
I've got a feeling, I think that everybody knows
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Yeah yeah I've got a feeling yeah
Yeah

Everybody had a hard year
Everybody had a good time
Everybody had a wet dream
Everybody saw the sunshine
Oh yeah (oh yeah), oh yeah, oh yeah
Everybody had a good year
Everybody let their hair down
Everybody pulled their socks up
Everybody put their foot down
Oh yeah

Yeah I've got a feeling
A feeling deep inside
Oh yeah

Oh yeah

I've got a feeling
A feeling I can't hide
Oh no

Oh no no no

Yeah yeah
I've got a feeling

I've got a feeling

Everybody had a good year
Everybody had a hard time

Everybody had a wet dream

Everybody saw the sunshine

Everybody had a good year
Everybody let their hair down

Everybody pulled their socks up

Everybody put the foot down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah

Oh yeah

I've got a feeling
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Overall Meaning

"I've Got a Feeling" is an upbeat rock song written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. The lyrics to the song revolve around a feeling inside that can't be hidden, and it expresses love and desire for someone who looks like the person the singer has been searching for. The intensity of the feeling keeps the singer on their toes and makes them feel like everyone knows what they're feeling. The chorus repeats "Yeah yeah I've got a feeling" multiple times.

The verses of the song convey an urgent need not to miss out on something important. The lyrics build to a climax as McCartney and Lennon alternate singing, voicing their concerns that they might miss a significant moment in their lives. The song concludes with everyone celebrating, recalling the good times they've had, regardless of whether they had a good or hard year.

The song was recorded in 1969 as part of the album "Let It Be" but was written during the "White Album" sessions, which took place in 1968. The rooftop concert that The Beatles performed on top of the Apple Corps building was essentially the group's last public appearance together, and the song was famously performed at the concert. McCartney and Lennon took turns singing the verses, and the chorus is sung by both.

I don't understand why people complain about his voice. He sings wonderfully for being 80

@Paul McCartney If that is true, is there any particular reason that you joined on December 29th?

You realize that you can possibly put on your ACTAUL official channel that you have a community-type account?

I'm very very sure that ain't you tho mr. "McCartney"

@PC4USE1

In this song,I would tend to agree. I think the chance to 'sing' with his mate,John reinvigorates his voice. He reaches high notes that he cannot reach at other times. We all age but Paul is a musical genius and no one can ever take that away from him.
