Paul van Dyk (Matthias Paul) hails from Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany. He is a leading trance DJ and is currently the world's #1 DJ (as voted for by "DJ" magazine readers) knocking Tiësto off the top spot which he held for three years.
His first production, in collaboration with Cosmic Baby as Visions of Shiva, was released in 1992. Before this, he used to do mix-tapes for his friends. In 1993 Paul's first album was released, entitled 45RPM. He also remixed the song Love Stimulation. He also did some nightclub work at a Berlin nightclub called E-Werk.
By 1997, when he released his second album Seven Ways, he'd established himself a huge fanbase and was becoming quite a popular DJ. He released three singles off the album called Forbidden Fruit, Words and Seven Ways. Each one of them was a wide success in Britain and was played in many nightclubs.
One year later in 1998 he released his 45RPM album in the UK and it reached number 1. To mark the event, Paul released his 1998 E-Werk remix of For An Angel, the track is still widely played today and is considered a dance classic.
In 1998 Paul also released his first remix compilation titled "Vorsprung Dyk Technik". The compilation held all his remixes from 1992 to 1998.
Paul also took up a residency at Sheffield’s Gatecrasher Club, as well as doing this, in a brave move he declared himself anti-drugs.
In 2000 he released his third album entitled Out There And Back. He released the hit single Tell Me Why (Riddles) off the album. In 2001, he released his second mixed compilation entitled The Politics of Dancing and in 2003 he released Global, the DVD.

Paul van Dyk is not only a DJ, but a producer as well, he's a huge influence in the trance genre. In his latest gigs, he is blurring the line between DJing and live performance engineering by utilizing two Powerbook laptops sporting Serato Scratch and Ableton software, meaning he can make 'on-the-fly remixes'.
Paul van Dyk continues to take trance to new and exciting levels and truly is considered a trance legend.

The Other Side
Paul Van Dyk feat. Wayne Jackson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I will comfort you,
When I wait my longest time,
Daylight brings the great divide,
We weeping like the rain,
Whispering your name,
Long to be with you divide,
Believe the sunrise,
I will see you on the other side.
And till the sun will shine,
When I reach the light,
See you on the other side.
[Repeat: x4]
See you on the other side,
When I closed my eyes.
Speeding City lights,
Leavening week tonight,
Oh I miss you once inside,
Stars came out to shine,
Across the waterline,
I can feel you on the other side.
See you on the other side,
When I closed my eyes,
And I reached the lights.
See you on the other side,
When I closed my eyes.
See you on the other side,
When I closed my eyes,
And I reached the lights.
See you on the other side,
When I closed my eyes.
See you on the other side!
The lyrics to Paul Van Dyk feat. Wayne Jackson's song The Other Side is a song about longing for someone who is not physically present, and finding comfort in the hope of being reunited on the other side. The song starts by acknowledging that the singer and the person they are longing for have been through difficult times ("when this broken trough"), and that the singer will be a source of comfort for the other person. The line "daylight brings the great divide" suggests that their physical separation is painful, and that the daylight only serves to highlight how far apart they are.
The chorus repeats the phrase "see you on the other side" multiple times, as if repeating the mantra will help make it come true. In the second verse, the song mentions the bustling city lights and how lonely the singer feels without their loved one. The stars serve as a symbol of hope and remind the singer that their loved one is still out there, shining like a star on the other side.
Overall, the song is emotional and raw, capturing the feeling of missing someone dearly and the hope of being reunited someday. The dreamlike quality of the music adds to the feeling of longing and the ethereal quality of the lyrics.

This song helped me through loss, and I hear the lyrics as the separation between death and life, yet we always feel in life what we have known in death (not our own)... The other side is beyond sorrow, beyond our own comprehension...

It's very cute and sweet and it does have depth but it could have been better where either the dog saves a dying man by resuscitating immerse something or getting him help or showing that he dies and the dog ends up maybe at his grave or something even deeper
Scyllarus
I think the song is more about the loss of a loved one and the connection you feel with them even though they're gone. The little dog, IMO, symbolizes or has replaced whoever the man lost - someone who takes care of him and who he takes care of. The "angels" seem to act through the dog - the lottery ticket - and I think strengthens this explanation. The person he's missing is still there and looking out for him. This song makes me cry, it's so sad.
