Wall's first music industry exposure came as a street team member on the Northwest side of Houston, promoting southern artists such as T.I. and labels like Cash Money and The New No Limit. He is also an accomplished and proficient mixtape and party DJ, known for producing mixtapes in the now-well-known screwed & chopped style, which was invented by the late DJ Screw. While he has recently stated on record that South LE. (in Houston's southside) is his base of operations, it is not the neighborhood that Paul Wall is actually from. Paul Wall has claimed several such neighborhoods over his career, starting with De Soto in Acres Homes (his original home neighborhood), then switching to Gulf Bank (also in Acres Homes).
Paul Wall, Chamillionaire and Jon Higgins were originally affiliated with Swishahouse Records, but left for Paid in Full Records a short time later. After several mixtape and independent releases, including the critically acclaimed 'Get Ya Mind Correct', the two parted ways on bad terms. Chamillionaire continued to release independent records, while Paul Wall returned to the Swishahouse fold. This move allowed him to appear on Mike Jones' first commercially distributed single, "Still Tippin'", from his first major label album 'Who Is Mike Jones?'.
His major label debut, 'The People's Champ', has produced a lead single, "Sittin' Sidewayz", which is receiving national radio and television play. In August, 2005, rumors began to circulate that Paul Wall and Chamillionaire had settled any differences that remained between them, and are again on good terms with one another. Paul Wall also appeared with GLC on the song "Drive Slow" on Kanye West's second solo album, 'Late Registration'.
Paul Wall is the owner and proprietor of TV Jewelry in Houston. The store specializes in the production of grills, silver, gold, or platinum caps and diamond inlays (usually princess-cut diamonds). Grills have become a growing trend in rap culture and have even influenced its own song. "Grillz", by Nelly featuring Paul Wall along with other artists, where at one point Paul raps "Call me George Foreman 'cause I'm sellin' everybody grillz.)

Break bread (where them ballers at)
Break bread-break bread (where them ballers at)
Break bread-break bread (where them ballers at)
Break bread-break bread
Break bread - 15x
[Hook - 2x]
You breaking bread, what's up with it
I'm turning heads, when I enter the club
I'm Gucci this Fendi that, I'm all of the above
[Paul Wall]
When it comes to jewelry, I'm like T.J. Ford
Cause my diamonds, average bout 15 points
All my T.V. VS, nothing less than the best
So I guess, that means I got expensive breath
But I'm more than just jewelry, I'm more than just ice
But me looking like a scrub, just wouldn't safice
I got rolls gold glowing, lap tops showing
Bremie Louis the Thirteenth, to keep it flowing
I can keep going and going, but what's the use
You know I'm balling in the mix, cause I got the juice
I run with wise guys, so it's no surprise
Everywhere I go, women undress me with they eyes
Boys can't knock it, I'm on the rise like a rocket
Big bank take lil' bank, I let you pick which pocket
My wrist glowing, like I stuck my hand in a socket
It's Paul Wall can't nobody stop it, break bread
[Hook - 2x]
[Lew Hawk]
I'm a star stunning nigga, when I step in the club
Channel sets cross my wrist, just like a light bulb
Got Gucci cross my feet, while I shock and rock
Popping Crystal bottles, will make these hoes bop
We some top notch playas, ain't no time for acting
We need ATM machines, for the loot we stacking
Better think shoot a fee, I bet it won't break me
Plus I spend a few G's, up in VIP
It's the currency, that make these hoochies hunch
All they want is a hour fifty, take em out to lunch
But they must be drunk, I never trick off ends
Just flip a blue Benz, with the blue eyes lens
On 16 headed North, with my chrome girlfriend
She could make your life end, and not get sent to the Penn
This for my niggaz in the Penn, that won't see sunshine
Got princess cuts in my mouth, you could see sunshine, break bread
[Hook - 2x]
[Gu-U]
Jumping in the slab, I'm bound to turn heads
In something's blue red, running lights like the FED's
Man I feel like Pac, it's all eyes on me
Sitting on 23's, in the black SUV
A life of luxury, that's the life for me
You can catch me at the mall, spending 15 thee
On the piece and chain, got rocks and rings
Hoes attitudes changed, since I'm having thangs
It's hard to explain, but that's the way it goes
Over night I went from showing rocks, to rocking shows
Hoes that wouldn't speak, now they watching me
But I'm trying to figure out, is it the watch or me
Or the foreign car, with the blue eyed lens
It's a bird it's a plane, that's my made back Benz
Is we cutting or what, is what I'm asking her
In Texas she saw my chain, it's a massacre, break bread
[Hook - 2x]
In Paul Wall's "Break Bread," the lyrics speak to the lavish lifestyle of the artist, as well as his friends. Breaking bread is a term that means to share wealth or success, and this song highlights the idea of ballers coming together to share their riches. The lyrics describe how Paul Wall is a big spender when it comes to his jewelry, with diamonds that average about 15 points, and all his T.V. equipment are nothing less than the best quality. He then goes on to mention his lap tops and expensive drink of choice, Louis the Thirteenth, along with name brand clothing like Fendi and Bremie. Paul Wall also mentions his association with wise guys, and how he is on the rise like a rocket, with his wrist glowing like he stuck it in a socket.
Lew Hawk's verse speaks to his own flashy style as well. He discusses his jewelry, which consists of Chanel sets on his wrist, and Gucci shoes on his feet. Lew Hawk also addresses his success, by mentioning needing ATM machines to hold all the money he's stacking up, along with popping bottles of Crystal in VIP. He finishes his verse talking about a woman who could take your life, and the fact that he has princess cuts in his mouth that can shine like sunshine.
Gu-U's lyrics touch on the luxurious life that comes with fame and fortune. He speaks about his expensive vehicles, a black SUV, and a Maybach Benz with blue-eyed lenses. He mentions spending $15,000 on a piece of jewelry and driving recklessly around town like he's being chased by the FED's. Gu-U also speaks about the change in attitudes that come with success, how women who wouldn't speak to him before, are now watching him and his material possessions. He finishes his verse on a humorous note, asking if he's "cutting" or not.
Overall, the song is a boastful display of wealth and success. The artists are showcasing their lavish lifestyles through lyrics about their jewelry, cars, and designer clothing. The idea of breaking bread represents sharing this wealth with other ballers, and joining in the flashiness of it all together.
