Weller's eleventh studio album, Sonik Kicks, was released on 19 March 2012. The Green Songfacts reports that it was recorded in Weller’s own Black Barn Studios in Ripley, Surrey, with co-producer Simon Dine and engineer Charles Rees.
Born John William Weller in Stanley Road, Woking, he was also a central figure in the Mod revival. As the leader of the Jam, Paul Weller fronted the most popular British band of the punk era, influencing legions of English rockers that ranged from his mod-revival contemporaries to the Smiths in the '80s and Oasis in the '90s. During the final days of the Jam, he developed a fascination with Motown and soul, which led him to form the sophisti-pop group the Style Council in 1983. As the Style Council's career progressed, Weller's interest in soul developed into an infatuation with jazz-pop and house music, which eventually led to gradual erosion of his audience — by 1990, he couldn't get a record contract in the UK, where he had previously been worshipped as a demi-god. As a solo artist, Weller returned to soul music as an inspiration, cutting it with the progressive, hippie tendencies of Traffic. Weller's solo records were more organic and rootsier than the Style Council, which helped him regain his popularity within Britain. By the mid-'90s, he had released three successful albums which were both critically-acclaimed and massively popular in England, where contemporary bands like Ocean Colour Scene were citing him as an influence. Just as importantly, many observers, while occasionally criticizing the trad-rock nature of his music, acknowledged that Weller was one of the few rock veterans that had managed to stay vital within the second decade of his career.

Till you've heard the fat girl sing
And nothing else matters
Everything just pales within
Hanging 'round the corners
Shouting at the top of your voice
Sing you little fuckers
I believe it's true
We are everywhere
And I feel the wind
And it feels so high
There really is no purpose
Definitely is no need
Stop running 'round the houses
Like a race horse on speed
I believe again
We are everything
And I feel the wind
And I've got so high
C'mon, baby, let's go
Ooh c'mon, baby, let's go
And you said where to?
I said I don't know
I just need to run
And you need it too
And I catch your ride
And I feel the wind
And it feels so high
We're plotting out the acorns
Wondering to where they'll lead
We're plotting out the acorns
Wondering to where they'll seed
C'mon, baby, let's go
Yeah c'mon, baby, let's go
And you said where to?
I said I don't know
The song "Come On/Let’s Go" by Paul Weller has a sense of urgency and restlessness to it. In the first few lines, Weller talks about the experience of hearing a "fat girl sing," something that one has never been to until they experience it. He sings about how everything else just pales in comparison and this moment is what matters. The fat girl's singing becomes the most important thing in the world, and nothing else matters. Weller uses this image of the fat girl singing as a metaphor for something that is underappreciated and ignored but deserves the highest reverence.
The second verse talks about shouting at the top of your voice, urging people to sing like they have no choice. This again reinforces the idea that one should embrace life and do what they love with conviction. Weller believes that music transcends differences and connects us all. "We are everywhere" is a statement of inclusivity wherein he believes that anyone and everyone can find common ground in music, and it brings us together. He also talks about feeling the wind and how it feels so high, a symbol of freedom and liberation.
In the last verse, he talks about how there is no purpose or need in running around the houses like a racehorse on speed. He encourages seizing the moment and running towards something that we may not know. He ends with plotting out the acorns and wondering where they'll lead, a symbol of new beginnings and the unknown. The song is an anthem for seizing the moment and living life to the fullest.
