Scars
Paved in Skin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I take this
I can't live with myself
When you watch me
I become someone else

I get high, I get free
I get tangled in me
I get deep, I get low
And I lose my control
I get high, I get free
I get tangled in me
I get deep, I get low
And I lose my control

When I take this
When I take this
When I take this
When I take this

I get high, I get free
I get tangled in me
I get deep, I get low
And I lose my control
When it's me, when it's you
It takes all I can do
To commit what I see
And keep ?

These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it
These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it

When I take this
I can't live with myself
When you're with me
I become someone else

I get high, I get free
I get tangled in me
I get deep, I get low
And I lose all control

These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it
These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it
These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it

These things I keep inside for you
The only things that like when I feel it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Paved in Skin's song Scars are a deeply personal narrative about the struggles of drug addiction and the impact it has on one's sense of self. The first stanza talks about how the singer can't handle their own reflection and how it feels like they become someone else when others watch them. The repetition of the phrase "when I take this" is a reference to drug use and how it alters one's perception of reality. The second stanza talks about losing control and the feeling of being tangled up within oneself. The repetition of the phrase "I get high, I get free" is a reflection of the fleeting sense of relief that drugs can bring, despite the negative consequences.

The third stanza references the struggle of trying to keep up appearances and commit to a relationship, despite the impact of addiction. The lines "It takes all I can do / To commit what I see" hint at the internal struggle between wanting to be present and needing to use drugs. The final stanza repeats the chorus, but adds the lines "These things I keep inside for you / The only things that like when I feel it". Here, "you" could be interpreted as someone who is close to the singer and possibly enabling their addiction, or as the drugs themselves, which provide temporary relief from internal pain.

Overall, Scars is a raw and emotional expression of the impact of addiction on one's sense of self and relationships. The lyrics capture the struggle of trying to maintain a facade of control while feeling like everything is falling apart internally.

Recommendation of ingredients & peels for different skin conditions:

8:19 For acne you need either/all of these ingredients - Salicylic Acid, Retinoic Acid, Modified Jessner, Benzoyl Peroxide
VI peel and Perfect Derma peel are recommended

09:11 Melasma - Multiple tyrosinase inhibitors, Retinol
Cosmelan peel, Enlighten peel and Demamelanin peel are recommended

10:16 For PIH & fine lines - Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Kojic Acid, Apha Arbutin, Retinoic Acid, Modified Jessner, etc.
Same peels as the Melasma are recommended but changes in the percentage, strength of ingredients and the technique will change the depth into the skin

Wow I just love this woman. Straight to the point, well explained and transparent. Can’t wait to see the rest of the series 👏♥️👩🏾‍🎓

Really well described. I had a few glycolic peels and had no idea of the after care or what to expect. I am finding that derms in the last few years are a lot more interested in a "partnership" versus a "dictatorship" and it is gaining the patients more consistent results.

Thanks so much!

Thank you, love this series. I’ve done two chemical peels (VI peel) in the past year. Would love to do more and if I can do them at home would really be affordable and convenient. I looking for anti-aging and hyperpigmentation relief. Looking forward to more content on this topic.🥰🙌🏽

I'm scheduled for a VI Peel in two weeks...did it work for you?

Jenna Lud

But don't they last a long time? Why would you do more than two?
