The lyrics to Peace's song "Step A Lil Closer" seem to depict a sense of vulnerability and a desire for intimacy. The opening lines, "Step a lil closer, Pass up the potion, Feel a lil broken," suggest a longing for a closer connection with someone, possibly through the consumption of a substance that can momentarily ease emotional pain. The repetition of "Step a lil closer" throughout the song emphasizes this desire for closeness and the belief that it will bring a sense of comfort or healing. The phrase "It'll feel alright" implies that the singer believes that by stepping closer to someone, they can find solace or reassurance.
The following lines, "Feels like a (?), Gets a lil better, Tastes like leather, (?) feather," are a bit more ambiguous and open to interpretation. It is possible that they could represent the conflicting emotions and sensations experienced when attempting to bridge the gap between two individuals. The imagery of leather and feathers suggests a contrasting combination of roughness and softness, possibly reflecting the complexities and contrasts in relationships as they evolve.
