Merrill Nisker (born 1966 in Toronto), better known as Peaches, is an electroclash artist whose songs are mainly focused on sexuality. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She plays almost all the instruments for her songs, programs her own electronic beats, and produces her records.
Peaches' music is preoccupied with gender identity. Her lyrics and live shows self-consciously blur the distinction between male and female: she appears on the cover of her second album Fatherfucker with a full beard; when asked if she had chosen the title for shock value, she commented:
"Why do we call our mothers motherfuckers? Why do we stub our toe and say "Aww motherfucker!"? What is motherfucker? ...We use it in our everyday language and it's such an insanely intense word. I'm not one to shy away from these obscene terms that we actually have in our mainstream. Motherfucker is a very mainstream word. But if we're going to use motherfucker, why don't we use fatherfucker? I'm just trying to be even."
She refutes accusations of 'penis envy', preferring the term 'hermaphrodite envy', since "there is so much male and female in us all". Nevertheless, she does not shy away from identifying herself as a sexual being, although she rejects the sanitised portrayal of women in popular music.
Although she does not hold a teaching degree, she taught at private schools before her career in music.
Fancypants Hoodlum released in 1995 was released under her birth name Merrill Nisker
Members of her band are known as The Herms - JD Samson, Radio Sloan, Samantha Maloney.
Her songs have been featured in movies such as Mean Girls, My Little Eye, Lost in Translation, Waiting, and Jackass: Number Two. Her music has also been featured on Showtime's The L Word television series. Peaches performed guest vocals on P!nk's album Try This, on the song "Oh My God". Her lyrics are discussed as part of the Queer Studies course curriculum at the University Of Toronto, and she has been invited to lecture at the Contemporary Music Academy in Berlin. Her most notorious song, "Fuck The Pain Away", is also the name of an Electro night in Brighton.

I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Flyin' on over that coo coo's nest
Comin' up to sing like I was main west
Legs like you but I'm simple the best
Slide right down on my medicine chest
Got the cure if you love cats feelin' depressed
Qualified to baptize you'll be blessed
No guilt when u takin' out your Sunday best
Oh yes, just one request
If you bring flowers I like baby's breath
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Oh yes

I'm just wonder you zippers broke
Mother rolled you over like a monster truck
Are you pregnant and I say good luck
Combo sisection tummy tuck
While your under the gas
Get you backs on up
So I can bust a brown cherry cheese popcorn puff
One more I get your bone enlarged
'Cause mommy wants to ride the top
Nipple to the bottle you satisfied
Huddled on the floor, it'll make you cry
Don't speak don't think don't ask why
Don't every leave mommy
Don't say goodbye
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress
I'm gonna fill you mommy complex
Hush now baby don't you stress

What playing this in my dress
The song "Mommy Complex" by Peaches addresses the theme of a woman fulfilling a man's "mommy complex," which refers to a psychological desire for maternal nurturing and care in a romantic or sexual relationship. The lyrics begin with the singer comforting the listener, promising to fulfill their need for a mother figure. The second verse mentions the film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and compares herself to the singer, McMurphy, who rebels against oppressive authority. She further asserts her power and sexuality, suggesting that she can cure emotional ailments, and likens herself to a doctor who can baptize the listener. The chorus repeats her assurance in fulfilling the listener's mommy complex.
The third verse gets more graphic, with the mention of surgery and pregnancy. Here, the singer is more aggressive and dominant, possibly invoking BDSM themes. She tells the listener not to question or leave her, further emphasizing the power dynamic in the relationship. The song ends with a chant-like repetition of the chorus and a cryptic line about playing music in her dress.
Overall, "Mommy Complex" explores the concept of unconventional relationships and power dynamics. The lyrics are deliberately provocative and challenge cultural norms of romantic relations, suggesting that some individuals may find comfort in atypical arrangements.
