Lara
Pedro Guerra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Pedro Guerra’s song, “Lara,” speak of a young girl who is growing up and realizing that with age comes loss. The advantages of childhood are disappearing, and Lara is growing up despite her misgivings. She is surprised at how quickly time passes, and she can see old age on the horizon. She is going through the tunnel of confusion, unsure of what is good and what is bad. However, she is trying to be faster than the wind and only chooses what life gives her pleasure.
Lara is feeling sad and strange, trying to balance on the bridge that separates the past from the future. She discusses both the simple and complex things in life, ignoring the advice of others and inventing her destiny. Lara decides to tackle the fire of life and burns with life’s energy and drive to live. She is growing up and observing herself in the mirror, but the reflection confuses her, and she is searching for happiness.
The lyrics convey a universal message of growing up and coming into one's own. The song acknowledges how difficult it is to navigate the world we live in and our own selves, particularly as one grows older. Lara is a symbol of young people everywhere going through these trials.
